GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOLWe have enjoyed a busy first few days back from our holiday vacation, including the start to our annual six week ski program. Yesterday students enjoyed their first trip of the year to Okemo and to Dusty Ridge under cold and clear skies. Despite a low snow pack, winter is here at TGS and we look forward to making the most of the snow we have and to a great ski season. I encourage parents to join us on Tuesday ski days and TO share in these fun and valuable experiences with our students.
Please join me in welcoming Louie and Yakira to TGS. Both Louis and Yakira started TGS preschool this week and we are so pleased to have them as a part of our school community.
As a reminder, Madame Jo is away for a few weeks on a language based professional development trip in Ecuador. She will be ably covered by both Laura Pratt and Beth Henkle during her absence. We appreciate the great work Laura and Beth will do in her absence and look forward to hearing about her adventures when she returns.
TGS Alum Nevie McCowen has returned to TGS to help in the preschool as a part of a January internship program for her early childhood education degree from Endicott College. It's always wonderful to welcome alums back to campus and we appreciate all that Nevie will do for our youngest students in the coming weeks.
TGS Aftercare has some limited space left and is a wonderful program for students through second grade. Please let Tammy know if you are interested in trying it out for your child. Don't forget that Chess starts on January 14 and any interested students should sign up quickly with Tammy for the limited spots available.

FACULTY APPRECIATION LUNCHEON
Thank you so much to all the parents for hosting a delicious meal for TGS faculty and staff before the holiday break. We really appreciate your generosity and hospitality, and all you do for TGS faculty and staff!
Dishes from the luncheon may be picked up from the faculty room.
Thank you!
TGS HEAD OF SCHOOL SEARCH UPDATE
Dear TGS Community:
The HOS search committee narrowed the many applications down to eight worthy of a telephone interview. Those interviews were conducted and we are now establishing a short list (3-4) of finalists for campus visits. The campus visits will take place this month (January) and early/mid next month (February), and the itineraries will include meetings and sessions that allow faculty, staff, students, parents, et al. to meet and thus assess the candidates.
The dates, itineraries, and formal mechanisms for your feedback on the candidates (to the committee) are now being created. More details soon regarding these visits from highly qualified and enthusiastic HOS candidates.
Regards,
Peter Eden
THANKS FROM THE PUTNEY FOODSHELF
The Putney Foodshelf thanks TGS for the wonderful food donation just before your vacation. The holiday break is a tough one not only for our recipients in need, but also for the Foodshelf because our main source of food (the Vermont Foodbank) closes for the holidays. We try to plan ahead but sometimes get caught short. Your wonderful contributions ensured full shelves for the open hours these past two weeks. Thank you so much!
GIRLS ON THE RUN - COACHES NEEDED! Girls on the run is a national program for girls in 3rd-5th grades, and it has been very popular at TGS. We are looking for coaches for the TGS chapter this spring. Please contact Mary if you are interested -
it is a fun, rewarding experience!
