GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear Parents and Families,
It has been such a joy to welcome your children to TGS this week, and if their collective energy and enthusiasm are harbingers for the year, we are in for another great one at TGS. Thank you again for choosing TGS for your children and we look forward to a year of learning and fun together. Every week throughout the year is packed with activities at TGS, and reading the Wednesday Notice is an important step to stay on top of all that happens here. Next week's activities are described in this notice, and include field trips, our annual Potluck, and much more. These opening weeks of school are important for teachers and students to build strong relationships, and we spend a lot of time in class cultivating those connections and working as a community to build a sense of welcoming throughout TGS. I hope all of our parents feel that same sense of connection, and value and recognize that the start of school can be both a welcome relief and an anxious time for parents, as your child starts a new school, class, or grade. Either way, strong ties between school, student, and home help create a positive experience for all. Below is an abridged list of some leading (and benign) questions that may be helpful as you speak with your child about their experiences in these opening weeks at TGS.
- Tell me something that made you laugh today.
- What was the best thing that happened at school today?
- Where is the coolest place at the school?
- How did you help somebody today?
- How did somebody help you today?
- Tell me one thing that you learned today.
- When were you the happiest today?
This afternoon we have our first All School Meeting, which will include an all school sing and community name games to further the cross grade connections that are so important at TGS.
Thank you for your partnership this year. Dan

This informal platform and entity will allow anyone (faculty, staff, parents, and others) to meet with a few trustees each month to ask questions, gain clarity on issues, and together identify resources and approaches that will help all of TGS in our collective aim to keep this school strong. We look forward to seeing you at this open dialogue meeting.
Thank you, Peter Eden, TGS Board Chair
