GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL Welcome to the last day of school for TGS and the final Wednesday Notice of the year! We are sending this note out early today to invite all parents who wish to come to Field Day at 12:20 and the last All School Meeting at 1:50 this afternoon. Both activities are special events that help bring closure to the year for all of our students and parents are most welcome to be a part of these celebrations.
What a busy spring we've had! It would be impossible to recount all of the activities, from the great time we had at the Strolling of the Heifers, to the field trips ranging from Mt. Washington to Boston and beyond! It is hard to believe that this school year ends today and that on Thursday we will send off the eighth grade to their next journey. This has been a very special year at TGS and we are thankful for all that each student, teacher, and parent has done to contribute to making this the incredible school that it is.
While this year ends, we have already begun thinking about next year and all the great and exciting things in store for TGS. With that in mind, you all can expect a late June letter from TGS including summer updates and announcements. We also would like to invite any parents who are interested in serving as Class Parents to reach out to Apple so we can begin to put these important roles in place.
I am very pleased to formally announce that we have hired a new Director of Development. Kimberly Corwin Gray will join the TGS team in July and will be joined in Putney by her husband Mike and her son River, who will attend first grade at TGS next year. Kimberly has spent the last twelve years at The North Country School in Lake Placid, NY in their Development Office. An alum of North Country, Kimberly is very excited to bring her skills to a new venue and add value to TGS as we take on new and essential fundraising goals. At North Country, Kimberly has advanced steadily in the Development Office and has been a key member of their advancement team as the school has taken on a 25 million dollar Capital Campaign and grown their Annual Fund from $400 thousand to $1.2 million per year. Please join me in extending her a very warm welcome to TGS!
I hope you all have heard by now that TGS has received a generous $10,000 matching gift challenge. If you have not yet made a gift to the Annual Fund this year, making a gift of any size before June 30 will help us achieve this matching gift challenge and get us closer to making our essential Annual Fund goal!
TGS Summer Camp is also right around the corner and we hope many students will take advantage of our fun and enriching options!
I look forward to seeing many of you at Field Day and All School Meeting this afternoon, and of course at Graduation tomorrow at 4:00pm as we celebrate together the close of this year and all that our students have accomplished.
Dan
