GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Yesterday was another successful TGS ski day, with students enjoying Grafton Ponds and Okemo on a blue sky day. While our conditions on campus remain icy, Kurt has done a great job of breaking up the hardpack and grooming enough to keep our PSD students skiing. This Sunday the Putney Ski Club is hosting a Bill Koch League (BKL) race at The Putney School and I look forward to seeing many of you there. There are races for all ages and abilities and it is a great venue for kids to push themselves with their peers in a supportive environment. Be sure to speak to Jen Robb if you have any questions about the races.
Very soon Mary Heller Osgood will offer an opportunity to order TGS sweatshirts. Be sure to get one while you can! More details will follow in next week's Wednesday Notice.
In case you have not been to our TGS Facebook page recently, we hope you have had a chance to see this recent parent testimonial video put together by David Hull and Michael Brown. We hope you enjoy it and we plan to provide a few more in the coming months.
TGS parent Ruthie Siegel has created an online sign up for parents who wish to help with the Fletcher family meal train and you can access that here if you want to help.
CONFERENCE DAY JANUARY 28 11-7 NO SCHOOL - Please call Tammy to schedule your conference. Reports for grades 5-7 will be sent home in advance of conference day. Reports for the other grades have been sent home already. SESSION 2 STEAM After school programs start up again the week of February 2! There are a couple exciting new offerings as well as some favorites now available to different age groups. Check out the website for class descriptions and registration forms. Return completed forms to Tammy in the office with payment, or email Jen Robb.
ART
See what your students have been up to in art class lately! These links are organized by grade; I hope you'll browse to see what everyone else is doing, too.
PUTNEY FOOD SHELF Hop's seventh grade class is collecting donations for the Putney Food Shelf during the month of January. Contributions of non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products, and diapers will be gladly accepted. Help yourself through this coldest time of the year by giving a little warmth to someone else. Drop boxes are in the upper school and outside of Tammy's office. Thank you! SAVE THE DATE! 55TH LIBRARY BIRTHDAY PARTY WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 11! The Library will celebrate its 55th birthday on Wednesday, February 11. The Library Birthday Party is an annual event enjoyed by all. The entire school will meet in the library to celebrate reading, books, and our library with lively student entertainment and gift opening. And since it's a birthday party, we end with yummy cupcakes. If you would be willing to bake cupcakes for the celebration, please let me know. We will need about nine dozen. A library wish list will be sent home with students today. A copy of the wish list can also be found on the Library Page, or you can pick one up in the library. Village Square Booksellers in Bellows Falls has a special display of books from the wish list as well as some additional paperbacks. Books also may be ordered online at http://www.villagesquarebooks.com/wishlist/5, and I'll make sure that they are delivered to the library on time. Please contact me with any questions, concerns, or if you will be able to bake cupcakes. Your support is always greatly appreciated. Thank you, Ponnie | 7th-8th skiing at PSD today |
