GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
We are excited to invite any interested parents to attend an information gathering meeting with Breadloaf Construction at TGS on Monday, December 8 at 5:30-6:30pm in the Auditorium. Tom Karlhuber, our lead architect on the Master Plan project, will meet with parents and community members to gain additional perspective on our campus and facilities needs. I hope that anyone who can attend chooses to, as your opinion and ideas matter for this community project.
This Friday is the December Head of School Coffee in the Library at 8:30. I will be joined by various members of the Board of Trustees, and we will speak to the emerging Master Plan. I look forward to seeing many of you there!
Given the sleet and rain we experienced today and the promise of more winter weather to come, please see below for a reminder of how we make decisions about cancellations at TGS and where you can find the information.
We will make every effort to ensure that our students are safe on the roads this winter. With that in mind, if you are uncomfortable driving on a day when we do have school, we simply ask that you call the front office to let us know that you are keeping your child at home.
We will communicate by an all-school email to parents, Facebook, and by both radio and television announcements. A list of the stations is included below. You can expect to receive notification as close to 6:00am as possible via these mediums.

We suggest a donation to TGS of at least 20% of the sale price, and you keep the rest. Please use these next few weeks to go through your winter equipment (clothing too) and decide what you can recycle. TGS SECRET SANTA Holiday Fun! The eighth grade is organizing the annual TGS Secret Santa draw, in conjunction with a food drive for The Putney Food Shelf. This is a schoolwide activity that involves all faculty and staff, as well as all students from K-8th grades. Each person draws the name of someone in the school: From December 12-18 we write notes to the people for whom we are Secret Santas, giving hints as to who we are, and, perhaps including a little surprise, if it is convenient. Remember not to tell anyone whom you have drawn, as it is secret! The week of December 15 everyone brings in a gift with a value under $6 for the person he or she drew, as well as an item to donate to the Putney Food Shelf. On the last day of school, December 19, we have a Secret Santa assembly when gifts are distributed and the food we have collected is presented to Putney Family Services. If you have questions, please email Laurie. HOST FAMILIES NEEDED FOR MEXICAN EXCHANGE STUDENT Might your family consider hosting a 16-year old exchange student from Mexico who is attending BUHS this year through PAX, the Program of Academic Exchange? Mariano is a dynamic and compassionate boy and an excellent student. He likes sports (soccer, volleyball), music (singing, playing the guitar), and outdoor activities such as fishing and camping. Mariano is responsible, outgoing, and appreciative...he is an outstanding young man. Mariano is currently in a welcome family without children and is eager to be in a younger, more lively environment. Host families do not need a separate bedroom, as long as you can provide a bed in a room with a host sibling and a place to study. They have spending money of their own for personal expenses and separate medical insurance. To learn more, contact Ann Newsmith at 802-257-4710, exchangevt@gmail.com.
