GET SOUTH AFRICA
Our fifth Global Education Theme is SOUTH AFRICA! Students in kindergarten through sixth grade, in multi-age groups, will experience the culture and traditions of South Africa as they "travel" to different activities for the next five Thursday mornings. The following are opportunities the children will have to gain a greater knowledge of this diverse country: painting in the Ndebele tradition, dancing and singing in the rich musical landscape of South Africa, folktale puppetry, wire sculptures inspired by South African artists, and a diorama inspired by the ecosystem of the Kruger National Park. As always, when we study a region, country, or culture a community service project is an important element.
CREATIVE WRITING at TGS TGS will hold creative writing workshops on Mondays from 3:05 to 4:30 in the Upper School common area from now until Dec. 8. Open to 6th-8th graders. Bring a notebook and your imagination! Contact Laurie Fichter or Jo Fuller if you'd like join. Limited to about 12 participants.
