THE GRAMMAR SCHOOL WEDNESDAY NOTICE

October 8, 2014

GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Yesterday Olympic skier Noah Hoffman visited campus with his girlfriend, Emilia Wint, who is a US Ski Team member for Slopestyle.
Noah has visited TGS many times in the past few years, and it is always nice to see him. Yesterday, he and Emilia spoke to the entire school and shared two videos to highlight their unique disciplines within the sport of skiing. I am always impressed by Noah and find his earnest humility refreshing. I am so appreciative that he interacts regularly with our students and provides a real life example of someone who is working hard every day to be at the top of his sport. He's an athlete who is driven by his passion to ski and compete, and that drive carries him around the world in pursuit of his goals. We are excited to see him again and follow his season closely on the World Cup.

We are hosting the 4th Annual TGS Fun Run at Green Mountain Orchards this afternoon, and all students are encouraged to participate. It's a beautiful day for a race in the orchard!

As you all know, the Faire is this weekend! The campus is taking shape and our tireless and talented parent volunteers are working overtime to make this Faire one for the record books. I look forward to working with many of you over the next few days as we raise the village and transform our school into a magical medieval fairground!

MEDIEVAL FAIRE OCTOBER 11!

THANK YOU!  Volunteer sign-ups have been fantastic; we only have a few more slots to fill for food and day-of activities. Check out ivolunteer if you haven't had the chance yet!

Parking - After Wednesday pick-up, there will not be parking at the Lower School due to Faire set up; please keep that in mind for dropoff and pickup on Thursday and Friday. Bus paths and a Fire Lane must remain clear. On Saturday please park in the Lower Field, as there will be limited parking only at the Upper School field (with priority for those transporting animals) due to the Joust and other activities. The main driveway will be closed from Saturday from 9:30am until the end of the Faire at 4pm, for pedestrian traffic.

Dropping off Marketplace Items - If you have crafted or canned/pickled items, please drop them off at the Auditorium stage or the Development Office. If you have signed up to bring Marketplace food, please drop those items off from Friday afternoon at the picnic table if the weather is good, otherwise in the Teachers Lounge. If you bring crafted or food items Saturday morning, please bring them directly to the Marketplace tent.

Thank you for pulling together and making this such a wonderful event! Questions? Contact Jennifer Jacobs, Melanie Kent, or Jen Robb.

THANK YOU FROM PUTNEY FOODSHELF
The donations from The Grammar School are astounding!  Your "Fill the Bus" event was simply extraordinary. Our drive was a complete success thanks to The Grammar School. This is such a big deal and will make such a difference in the lives of the people the Foodshelf supports as well as the Foodshelf Family Food Bag program at Putney Central. The Grammar School's generosity and kindness will have a significant impact on the food available to the hungry in our community.

The Grammar School donated 85 bags for a total of 831.6 pounds of food!

 ...and our  total tally is:

366 bags of food for a total of 3,755 pounds of food and $1,060 in cash donations

Wow! Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Putney Foodshelf
