GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
All School Meeting (ASM) is one of my favorite events of each week, and this year our ASMs have been lovely. We are fortunate at TGS to have student leaders who, with encouragement and guidance from skilled teachers, lead our weekly community gatherings. In the process, they hone their own leadership styles, while they demonstrate their sincere care for and investment in TGS. This year the eighth graders have committed to producing a series of simple skits for most ASMs, designed to overtly reinforce common social skills and practices that they have identified as key elements of a well functioning learning community. The first skit reminded us all how we are supposed to greet each other, and last week's skit humorously depicted the right and wrong ways to listen and engage as an audience. I love the simplicity of the message being delivered by these students and I appreciate how much attention they, and the TGS community, pay to the importance of how we intentionally treat each other, fostering a culture of care and respect through all fibers of the community. I want to remind you all that ASM is always open and parents are strongly encouraged to come whenever possible and participate in this community event. Next weekend our ASM takes place on Putney Mountain and I sincerely hope to see many of you there for this special and meaningful tradition.
Last week we announced a community initiative aimed at making a difference in the food drive for the Putney Food Shelf. We have set a goal to "Fill The Bus" with bags of donated food for those in need. On Tuesday, we will Fill The Bus, and gather as a school to send the stocked bus off to Putney Food Shelf's food drive at Next Stage. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. This is also a good opportunity to speak with your children about giving back and helping others, and I hope that you'll engage with them about why it is important to help strangers in need in our community. TGS has a long tradition of helping the Putney Food Shelf and we will continue to assist them throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Dan
