GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear Parents and Families,
For this final Wednesday Notice, I want to say a very sincere thanks to all of you, and the faculty, staff, and students who make TGS so special. This was a successful school year and we all have a great deal to be proud of in myriad areas. We all will miss the current eighth graders, and we wish them well as they start their next chapter in life after graduating on Thursday. We are thankful that they were here to learn and grow with TGS, and we are eager to welcome them back as proud alumni.
I hope many of you have had a chance to see the various tributes to both departing faculty and soon to be graduates adorning the halls. From the eighth grade photo collage to the art retrospectives, these tributes are steeped in tradition and are a reminder of the growth and transformation that occurs over students' tenure here. Couple that with the students' hand imprints in tribute to Chris Harlow's hard work, and the impact he has had on our culture, and our hallways have become testimonials of thanks to our graduates and departing faculty.
As we say goodbye to three valued team members from the TGS staff this week, we also prepare to welcome four talented individuals to join the TGS team. We look forward to the skills, energy, and dedication Apple Gifford, Michael Svensson, Michael Brown, and Kurt Lynch will bring to TGS. In a few weeks we will send out a summer letter that examines the initiatives and areas of focus for TGS faculty and staff for the upcoming year.
I am excited to welcome Apple Gifford in the new position of Assistant Head of School and Academic Dean. Apple and I spoke with many parents today who were able to attend the final Head of School Coffee, and I look forward to more opportunities for parents to get to know her in the future.
While many administrative faces will have changed, we are confident that this team will continue to strengthen TGS in all areas, including the academic and social curriculums. Over the course of the year, I have enjoyed the opportunity to meet with many parents, and I urge anyone who wishes to meet with me, or has questions about anything related to TGS, to reach out to me. I am around this summer, and I truly value your input.
I hope to see many of you soon, and wish you and your families a wonderful summer.
Sincerely,
Dan

STROLLING OF THE HEIFERS Strolling report from Michael Hornsby: It was a beautiful day for a stroll for about 25 TGS students and parents. Thanks to Ruthie and Paul for the gorgeous banner and to all that came and represented our great school in front of thousands of community members and visitors. See you next year!
FROM THE LIBRARY
Thank you for a wonderful year in the library and for all your support...encouraging your child to read, helping return library books, supporting the book fair, baking cupcakes for our birthday party, participating in the Reading Challenge, donating books, and volunteering your time in so many ways.
Next week, students entering grades 2-8 in the fall will find summer reading lists on our website (http://thegrammarschool.org/) and (http://thegrammarschool.org/library/). And parents, our popular recommended reading list for adults will be there too. If you have any last minute suggestions for the adult list, let me know.
Thousands of library books have been checked out this year; however, not all have returned. Even if your child doesn't receive an overdue notice, please be on the look out for our books. They sometimes leave without being checked out, and we'd like them back for students to enjoy next year. Final bills for any missing library books will be mailed at the end of the week.
Enjoy your summer and have fun reading! See you in the fall.
