GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
Dear TGS Parents and Families,
I hope you all enjoyed Spring Break and some extra time with your families. As much fun as our vacations are, I am always delighted to see our smiling students return to TGS full of stories and energy, eager to catch up with friends and carry on with their studies. On Monday we welcomed Milo and Burton Townsend to TGS as newly enrolled students. They come from Springfield, VT, and we are delighted to have them join our community. There has been a great deal of interest in TGS this year from prospective students and we are excited that so many people have found us. Our best resource for referrals is always word of mouth, and so let me thank you all for the work you are doing to market TGS in the larger community, as it clearly is working.
For many of our eighth graders, this Spring break was particularly meaningful as they traveled to Ecuador with Kroka for our second annual service learning trip. I look forward to their future work to share their experiences with our community, and am glad the trip was such a resounding success.
March 10th is a particularly exciting and anxiety provoking time for many eighth graders as it is the universal acceptance announcement date for most secondary schools. All of our eighth graders did an exemplary job finding excellent schools placements for secondary school and we are very proud of them. With revisit days approaching, many students will soon make their final decisions on where they will spend the next four years. It is an exciting time for them and for us as well, as we begin to celebrate the close of their TGS chapter and the beginning of the next stage of their educational journey. Fortunately, we get to enjoy this wonderful group for a few more months.
We have a particularly busy Spring ahead and I look forward to seeing many of you on campus soon.
Sincerely,
Dan

READ EVERY DAY CHALLENGE - APRIL 2-22. It's almost spring and time for the TGS Read Every Day Challenge. The purpose of this noncompetitive challenge is to support students' reading for pleasure, their daily reading habit, and to make it fun! Information will be sent home with your children this week about the reading challenge. Please read it carefully, so that your children will have a successful experience. Dress as your favorite book character day, Wednesday, April 2. To help kick off the Read Every Day reading challenge, students, faculty, and staff will come to school dressed as their favorite book characters. We did this for the first time last year, and it was so much fun, we decided it needs to be a TGS tradition. The day will end with an all school buddy activity in the theater. Thank you, Ponnie SPRING SPORTS WILL BEGIN APRIL 28
Check upcoming Wednesday Notices for more information on spring sports. TGS will offer mountain biking, trail running, and Utlimate Frisbee (for 6th-8th graders), in addition to Girls on the Run, which started earlier this month. If you are interested in helping to coach a sport, please contact Mary as soon as possible. Girls on the Run!

The Grammar School's 2014 Summer Camp will take place during the weeks of July 7, 14, and 21.
