GREETINGS FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL
What a wonderful week we've had at TGS as we've welcomed the snow and kicked off our legendary ski program. Most students were out today on skis celebrating the new snow and skiing with their classes. Let's hope the snow lasts out this impending warm front and that we are indeed on track for a snowy winter!
Tonight we celebrate together with our second Winter Concert and the annual Mummers Play. I can't wait to see our students in action this evening and listen to their harmonies as they perform. I look forward to seeing many of you there as well.
On Friday we unveil our Secret Santa gifts before we all head off for a well deserved winter vacation. It has been wonderful to watch students light up as they find small gifts or clues in their cubbies, and it has been an excellent community event. Many thanks to the eighth grade for their leadership of this annual tradition.
Enjoy the remainder of this short week,
Dan J. Marchetti Head of School
SECRET SANTA GIFTS
Please bring your Secret Santa gifts to school on Thursday (tomorrow), and put in the basket on the stage. Everyone brings in a gift with a value under $6 for the person he or she drew, as well as an item for the Putney Food Shelf.
ALL SCHOOL HOT LUNCH - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT! The lunches were a huge hit and helped us reach our goal for the 8th Graders Ecuador trip! GRACIAS!

What a wonderful early start to the ski season!
PLEASE SIGN UP AND BRING YOUR HOLIDAY TALENTS TO THE FACULTY/STAFF APPRECIATION LUNCHEON
On Friday, Dec. 20, around 12:30pm right after the Secret Santa (which should not be missed!), there will be a special luncheon for the faculty & staff at TGS. The theme is ENCHANTED WINTER WOODLAND. Laura Zindel is in charge of the decorating, so it is sure to be amazing! The Luncheon is a long and wonderful holiday tradition to show our appreciation to the hard working faculty and staff! The set up, clean up, decorations, food, and drink will all be provided by parent volunteers. This is a great way to kick off the holiday of giving!
Signup sheets are on the bulletin board outside of Tammy's/Suzanne's offices and in the upper school cubby room. We are encouraging at least one parent for each grade level to sign up for cleanup, because those are the most difficult slots to fill (Dads are welcome and encouraged)! If you cannot make it to the signup sheets, (or have any questions), please email Natalie Thomson, natalieathomson@yahoo.com and I will put your name and dish/task on the sheet for you! Food should be dropped off at or before 12 noon on Dec. 20, lunch will start around 2:30pm, and clean up is from about 2-3pm. THANK YOU, in advance, for all of your help! Thanks, Natalie THE POWER OF DISCOVERY SESSION II REGISTRATION DEADLINES COMING UP SOON! Don't miss out on these amazing after school opportunities for your children in K-8th grade!
PUTNEY FAMILY SERVICES - PUTNEY FOOD SHELF: THIRD GRADERS ARE COLLECTING NON-PERISHABLE ITEMS FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER. PLEASE BRING ITEMS TO BOX OUTSIDE MAIN OFFICE OR BASKET OUTSIDE THE THIRD GRADE CLASSROOM. Happy Holidays and many, many thanks!

PRESCHOOL SKI SCHOOL COACH NEEDED - FROM ERIC AHO: A few years ago my wife Rachel is organized a "Pre-school Ski-school" for the toddler to age 4 group. "If they can walk they can ski" is the message we began putting out there.
Now our toddler is no longer a toddler and is skiing BKL. We are aware of several families with little kids. Many of the littlest kids have older siblings skiing in BKL. So...if you have any youngsters or know of any youngsters who would like to shoosh around please find a pair of strap on skis or 100 cm skis with snow monster bindings! and come to our Bill Koch Ski League Practices at 3:15pm on Wednesday.
Parents will need to be present to accompany their little kids. Our experience shows that while the little kids don't ski for too long, a short loop is often enough, everyone has a great time. Most importantly the experience lays a foundation of "fun on skis"!
Additionally, if anyone has strap-on skis they could share for use on these Wednesdays that would be especially helpful!
At present there is no one running this fun aspect of our program. If you would like to participate and help organize a group of like minded parents. Please let Eric know know and he can help set up an conversation thread.
