Park Snapshot
Last week, park staff assisted Minnesota DNR research biologists with the annual bear den surveys in the park. Radio-collared sows are tracked using telemetry equipment to locate the animals in their dens. Measurements, blood samples, and weight are taken to determine the overall health of each animal. During the two-day survey, three adult females, one yearling cub, and two eight-week cubs were located.
