Happy New Year!
Hello, all,

Welcome to 2016!

On behalf of Fred Arnett, Kaylee Gray, Stephanie Hoffman, Russ Kennedy, Ruthie Painter, and myself, at the SOU SBDC, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you last year. We achieved our key metrics (see below) but most importantly, we served the community. That is truly our pleasure!

Here is what we (you and the SOU SBDC) achieved in 2015:

  • Clients served = 302
  • Training events = 48 events, 671 attendees
  • Jobs created = 42
  • Business starts = 12
  • Capital infusion (loans, equity, etc) = $1.5 M

We welcome your comments, suggestions, and feedback. We are listening and will do the best we can to address your needs.

Be well,

Jack
Client Spotlight - Cammy Davis

Cammy Davis wanted to start a business her entire life, but always opted for a more secure and stable path. When the opportunity finally presented itself she made the decision to pursue her art as a career; her ultimate goal is to make a living as an artist and do something she loves. "I am a creative person," she says, "But realize the equal importance of business in making my goal as an artist work."

Cammy first attended the Rogue Valley Business Resource Fair in 2012, looking for help and advice on starting her business. Following the Smart Start Your Business workshop, she started working with counselor Ruthie Painter. Ruthie has helped her to focus more on her path and rein in all of her ideas. Cammy appreciates how difficult it is to be successful as an artist and entrepreneur, and credits the counseling and guidance of the SOU SBDC in helping her develop the tools she needs to see her business grow as well as foster relationships with major customers.

Cammy is a fine artist, a jewelry maker, a radio personality, and a videographer. Besides her successful YouTube channel, you can hear her on her show "Art on the Airwaves: Arts & Entrepreneurs" every first and third Friday from 1:00-2:00PM on KSKQ 89.5 FM, or featured in the October issue of Jacksonville Review. You can also find her art and jewelry on her websites, www.cammyart.com and www.cammydavis.com. As Cammy says, "It's all about the art!"
