NEWSLETTER December 19, 2012 Wednesday Edition |
|
Dear (Contact First Name),
What should we be praying for? Here's what should be on everyone's list: pray for people who have not had a chance to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior in their lives. Thank God for touching their hearts as to their need of Him, so that they would listen and respond to the gospel.
Let's thank God, too, that He can touch each believer's heart so that despite the secular and commercial distractions of Christmas, he or she can still take time to think about and celebrate the miraculous advent of God's Son on earth.
There are those who are hurting this Christmas, be it emotionally, financially, physically or otherwise. Again, we can thank God that He is able to fulfill these needs, so they can experience His amazing and faithful provision.
Let's all be thankful to God that He is truly the One who prompts us to seek His plans for our lives.

On Sunday: The Gospel Is Not About Just Celebration
 | | Pastor John |
The evangelistic series being conducted by Pastor John brings to us the topic listed above for this coming Sunday. His talk is part of the series "The Gospel: What It Is Not About." The first two sermons of the series were entitled "The Gospel Is Not About Religion" and "The Gospel Is Not About Mere Hell Avoidance."
There are five more topics in the series after Sunday's sermon.
We will have a Christmas program as well on Sunday. |
 | Christmas Fellowship Lunch | | |
That's on Sunday, too!
All four lunch groups will bring their goodies together on Sunday, December 23, for our Christmas Fellowship Lunch. Each group will bring an entree, a vegetable dish or salad, and dessert. Please coordinate with your group leaders. AFTER LUNCH please help in doing the final clean up of the fellowship hall and kitchen areas. Bring a change of comfortable clothes and shoes, if needed, so you can help clear out stuff in these areas. The folding tables and chairs will be brought to the Hanjin metal storage at the back of the church for temporary safekeeping. All volunteers, young and old, are needed. Don't leave the old folks to do the work. Their knees are too rickety to hold up. :-) |

God's Double-Talk
"The Lord said to Moses, 'When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.'" Exodus 4:21 Have you ever had a boss tell you to do something only to have him sabotage your ability to complete the task? Nothing is more frustrating than to begin to carry out a task and have your superior thwart your effort to do what he asked you to do. Moses must have felt this way after God told him to go to Pharaoh and tell him to release the people of Israel. He said, "I am going to give you the power to release the children of Israel by the miracles I will do through you." Yet at the same time, He told Moses they would not be released because He was going to put a hard heart in Pharaoh. How do we reconcile this? - In my own life, I knew God called me to certain endeavors. Yet every time I turned around, a roadblock stood in my way. It took years of plodding along before the light came on as to why there was such a distance between what God called me to do and the manifestation of that calling. When David was anointed king of Israel, it was years before he realized the manifestation of that calling. There were a number of reasons for these delays. - In the case of Moses and Israel, God wanted to demonstrate His power in such a way that generations would be able to hear the story of their deliverance from their ancestors. God wanted greater glory from the situation. God also wanted to deal with Egypt by sending specific plagues. Finally, the very process built character in Moses and tested Moses to see if he would stay the course.
-
There is a time for everything. If God has called you to some endeavor and you are frustrated that it has not manifested, know that times of preparation and simmering are required before the vision can be achieved. Seldom does God call and manifest something at the same time. There is preparation. There is testing. There is relationship building between you and God that must take place. Once this is complete, you will see the vision materialize. ( Today God Is First (TGIF) devotional message, Copyright by Os Hillman, Marketplace Leaders.) |

Dear God, I thank you for the spiritual possessions you have given me through the experiences of life. If it were not for the trials I have come through; the things I have experienced, done, and seen; the manifestations of your grace in my life, I would not be as spiritually rich as I am.
I thank You that You let me share my testimony with others; that my life and my words would help to draw people to You; that I will be able to make a positive difference in someone's life because of what You have allowed me to experience and to share with others.
Thank You for the lessons I have learned. Most of all, thank You for being there with me through it all and for carrying me so much of the way. In Jesus' name I pray, amen. |
