Gospel Life Community-Church Without Walls
NEWSLETTER   Monday Edition
October 29, 2012
Greetings!

The God we worship is greater than our greatest problem!  We need to remember that so that our battles can start from victory and still end in victory.

Whatever the storms in our life may be, whenever the clouds darken our days, or when strong tides come our way, we have an Anchor that remains firm.
-
Psalm 107:29-32 says, "He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.  They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.  Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.  Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders."

First Sunday

Those who plan to be part of the program on Sunday, November 4, which is First Sunday, will please get in touch with Pastor Hansel if you have not already put your name in the sign-up sheet.  First Sundays in Gospel Life are set aside for our congregants to share their testimony and/or talent with the rest of the congregation.

Communion is also celebrated on First Sundays.

Pray For....

....All those in the path of Hurricane Sandy so that lives are spared and property damage is minimal.

....The safe and peaceful travel of our Senior and Founding Pastors John and Jessie and for them to be able to get the flight accommodations that they need for certain dates.

....Our leadership and core group for wisdom and knowledge, guidance and direction in obeying what the Lord wants for Gospel Life to do.

....For the programs that will be planned for Gospel Life in the next fiscal year and for the long term.

....For each other so we can lay down our excuses to serve the Lord, trusting Him to empower us to do whatever it is He calls us to do.

ASAP

As soon as possible, we will let those who
have not had their church directory pictures taken yet know where they can have them taken and when.

We are hoping to get them to do an extra photoshoot day for Gospel Life, and preferably this would be on a Sunday.

Otherwise, we may have to send you to any one of the nearby churches also doing a photoshoot on certain dates, but we will let you know for sure.

Avoiding Self-Based Faith

-

"We live by faith, not by sight." - 2 Corinthians 5:7

-

Over the years I have run into many businessmen who make the statement, "Whenever I get things in order in my business, I want to get more involved in ministry." What are these men really saying? They are saying that as soon as they can get the amount of money that creates security, they will trust God. They are saying that what they have been doing to date has not been ministry. This separation of "work and faith" is common among our culture. We fail to understand that life is sacred to God and there is nothing "holy" and nothing "sacred" in itself.

-

I would love to hear one workplace believer say, "I have spent my life in this business. The Lord has blessed me with great resources. But now God has told me to give away my wealth and to trust Him to provide for me through new ways." Wouldn't that be a novel concept? That is exactly what C.T. Studd, the great cricket player in the 1800s, did. He was reared in a wealthy home, but his deep conversion experience led him to take actions that forced him to trust God in ways he never had to before. He became one of the great missionaries of all time.

-

Whenever we seek to plan ways of ministry that depend on our ability to manipulate and plan outcome, this is not faith. The ministry that comes from this will be minuscule. Faith that bears fruit is faith that is born from experience with a living God. It is faith that says, "I don't know where the next check is coming from. All I know is that God told me to do this and trust Him for the next step." That is faith that moves mountains and moves God's heart. God rarely allows His servant to see beyond the next faith step. However, those who are willing to take the first step and leave the outcome to Him see His works.

-

"Others went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters. They saw the works of the Lord..." (Psalm 107:23-24).

Meditation

Dear God, there are people in this world that I can learn so much from; people who have gone through hard things that have strengthened their faith, people who have been Christians for years and are so much more spiritually mature than I am. On the other hand, there are people in this world who can learn from me.

Thank You for showing me if there is someone you would have me be a mentor to or someone who should be my mentor. And please, keep working on me so that I might be the witness in the world that you want me to be. Thank you, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
