October Theme:

Strong Family
Greetings!

Do you ever think about government and politics in terms of God's Kingdom?  Do you realize that even the apostle Paul makes reference to this matter?

You may not like who is in authority or who's going to be elected, or who a candidate for public office is. But once they are in office, he gives a reminder in Romans 13: 1,2  that "there is no authority except that which God has established.  The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment upon themselves."

So be careful of what you say against authorities in government. You may like them or you may not like them, but the Lord surely has a purpose for them to be in positions of power.

Pastor Joannie

Pastor Joannie spoke about "Parenting the Postmodern Child" during the Good News Hour on Sunday.  This is part of this month's theme on the "Strong Family."

At the outset, she identified today's generation as being more comfortable with diversity, and, being distrustful of authority,  they are able to build trust based on relationships. And so "to positively influence this generation, parents must act with integrity."

Her advice to "be authentic with your children" is well taken. One of the statements she made was "in order to overcome the pluralistic view pervasive in our culture, parents must demonstrate that Christianity works in practical ways." She quoted Danny Silk in his book Loving Our Kids on Purpose: "We can't introduce our kids to the Kingdom of God if that Kingtdom is not manifesting in our own lives.  If we haven't learned to live from the inside out then we will have a hard time training our children to live that way."

Pastor Joannie further said that "in order to counteract distrust and disillusionment, parents must cultivate a lifestyle of compassion and grace." It is important to allow children the freedom to pose questions.  At the end, she left us a short list of things that never change: 1) the grace of God, 2) the effectiveness of authentic example, 3) the compassion of God towards man, and 4) the power of the Holy Spirit.

This coming Sunday, Pastor Tony Luciano will be the speaker during the Good News Hour and his message will be in regards to the Family Goals and Mission.
Church Directory

Everyone who came for their LifeTouch appointment to get their pictures taken for the church directory knows that it was an experience not to stay away from.  But many individuals or families have not been able to have their pictures taken due to conflicts with their schedules, for the most part.

We are making arrangements for those who still need for their pictures to be taken, so we can have as many of your pictures included in the directory.

Hopefully we will have another photo opportunity that is scheduled on a Sunday afternoon so the ones who can take advantage of this will be already in church for the Sunday service.  We'll keep you posted.
Prayers

We'd like to encourage all of you to continue praying for the complete recovery and healing of Pastor Jessie.  The news we're getting from the Philippines is all good and positive and her recovery continues. She and Pastor John plan to be home before Thanksgiving.

Let's also pray for all the Gospel Life churches in the Philippines and for those who affiliate with us as a Church Without Walls, so that God will continue to find and place leaders in these churches for their growth and nurture.

Pray for the plans being made by GOGL (Global Outreach of Gospel Life) to become more of a teaching center to help equip and train leaders and pastors wherever the Holy Spirit leads.

Pray for our local congregation as we continue to define our role for our community and for our leaders as they follow what the Holy Spirit tells them to do. Let's all be thankful for the path in which our church is being led as we continue to find God's hand in matters of our fiscal health.

Above all, let's be thankful that we are covered by Jesus' righteousness, and that gives us the right to be God's children and to approach Him boldly at His word. "Ask and it shall be given to you."
Marketplace Ministry

Share gospel truths using everyday objects! While all Christians have basic knowledge of the gospel, many have a hard time sharing it.

Just imagine sitting in a restaurant enjoying a delicious meal with an unsaved friend. One glance at the ketchup bottle brings a smile to your face. Why? You know you can use that everyday object to illustrate important gospel truths.

There are 101 easy ways to share your faith using everyday objects. It will help you visualize the message of the gospel so it makes more sense to you and to those with whom you want to share the gospel.

Meditation
Dear Lord, Your Word tells me, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

I thank You right now, in the name of Jesus, that You would  tear down every stronghold in my life, and to make my thoughts subject to the obedience of Christ. Thank You for making me rise above all that pulls me down, and allowing me to soar with the Eagles and to restore fellowship with You.

May my life be a living testimony to You, Oh God. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.
