"STRONG FAMILY"

Greetings!

Each one of you who is a soldier for Christ should also be a precious prayer warrior, who is faithful to draw close to Jesus, and always willing to intercede on behalf of others. Through your prayers, you have a tremendous impact on the world.

Although sometimes you may, yourself, be filled with doubt, hesitation or fear, breathe a word to God who is always there to supply the needed ounce of help to get you over any anxious thought that you may have.

God's peace and comfort immediately descends to calm your ruffled spirit and sends you off again to yet another experience in intercession.  What you do for others you can certainly do for your family.

Post Script: First Place Trophy

Gospel Life received a First Place Trophy in the church category at the recently concluded Walnut Family Festival.

Our parade entry which showcased a large poster of our church mounted on frames on either side of our pick-up truck depicting the sign "Gospel Life Community" on the large planter out by the road, with the words "Built Upon a Rock" printed in large, bold letters at the bottom of the poster, together with the appropriately identified motorcycle with a sidecar included in the parade, apparently won the judges over.  The motorcycle with the sidecar is owned by Medy and Irma Alcaraz.

Our church people who joined the parade on foot held up the large sign "Gospel Life Community - Church Without Walls"  in front of our group while several distributed candy and 2013 Gospel Life Calendars to bystanders alongside the parade route.

Gospel Life won First Place in the same category in 2010, and Second Place in 2011. Many of our Gospel Life congregants contributed their ideas, time, effort and financial resources towards this project.

A Spirit of Togetherness

The Core Group Meeting held yesterday was characterized by a spirit of cooperation and togetherness. Although a matter of importance was discussed, there was a subdued yet intense commentary made back and forth with an underlying element of understanding and commitment.  It was evident that everyone present was making a prayerful assessment of the talking points being presented by Pastor Joannie and the discussion that followed.
At the end of the meeting the group gathered in a circle with hands joined as several prayers ascended to God confident that His hand is right on the matter.  His peace and comfort was felt by all.
Baby Shower

A baby shower in honor of Natalie Orzame was given on Saturday afternoon at the church's Fellowship Hall.

A beautifully decorated hall and lots of good food made for greater interaction among the guests and for participation in several games prepared for the occasion.

This child will be the firstborn for the expectant parents.

Mixed Martial Arts

Two of the students Pastor Hansel coaches in the mixed martial arts class that he teaches competed Sunday evening in a local gym in Covina.

Carlos, second from left on this picture, won his kickboxing match. Joey, second from the right, also competed.  Both put the best of their abilities into their matches and are to be commended for continuing their training and honing their skills.

Several other students attend Pastor Hansel's class.

Photo Studio

Part of the church was converted into a photography studio last Friday and Saturday to take pictures of our congregation for inclusion in the full-color Church Directory to be published soon.

Although a good number availed themselves of this opportunity at no cost to them or to the church, there are still many who need to have their pictures taken for inclusion in the Church Directory.

Arrangements are being made as to what the rest who still need to have their pictures taken could do.  We hope to get an extra day of picture taking, hopefully on a Sunday, to make it more convenient for those who could not make it during the week because of work or other conflicting schedules. There are also other churches in the area whose members are being photographed for their own directories, and are scheduled on some other dates in the future.

We will keep you posted as to when and where you might go to have your pictures taken, if you missed doing it last weekend.

This was the set-up in church where professional pictures were taken for our church directory.

Experiencing God in Your Business

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1

The CEO walked into the president's office after reviewing his new marketing plan for the next year. It was a well-prepared, thoughtful plan.

"This will not do!" exclaimed the CEO. "This plan describes how you will achieve these objectives through your own planning. I am certain you can achieve these objectives through normal business operations; however, you have allowed no room for faith in your plan. Now you must determine what God wants us to trust Him to accomplish through this business. You must go beyond what you can naturally achieve."

What was this CEO saying? If you and I want to experience God in business at the practical level, we must be willing to trust Him for more than what our natural abilities can accomplish. God likes to show Himself in the midst of unlikely circumstances. This is the place that God receives the glory. God always forced Israel to trust Him for the supernatural. This is how glory was brought to the Father. It is no different in our lives.

The world is looking for real faith. Perhaps you are the instrument that He wants to use to demonstrate real faith to the unbelieving business world. It will require courage, faith, and action; also, it will require risk. You may risk finances, reputation, and being misunderstood. This was the risk of all leaders in the Bible. It was a risk worth taking. Are you willing to see God move in your business life? Ask Him what this might mean for you.

Meditation

"Dear God, Thank You for Your Word; Your Word that is like honey to my lips and balm to my soul. I pray that the words that go forth out of my mouth shall be 'pleasant words, like a honeycomb,' to the people around me.

"I want my words to be like 'sweetness to the soul and health to the bones,' so that I may encourage others, build them up, and point them to You. If I may share just an inkling of the love and sweetness You give to me...I will be blessed and will be a blessing. In Jesus' name I pray, amen."
