October Theme:  Strong Family
Welcome to Gospel Life Community-Church Without Walls

Greetings!

-

Eternity lies just beyond our last heartbeat, and that's where Jesus is pointing us to. Sometimes we may not see a clear path, but He assures us that He will continue to lead us with a steady and sure hand.

Our only part is to follow Him where ever He leads us. When we get to heaven, the Father will have these words to say:  Well done!

The Awakening

In case you've forgotten reading about it, or if it has slipped your mind, there is a mid-week worship in church from 7 to 8 p.m.  Those who live in the area are encouraged to attend.  Invite your friends, neighbors and other family members. It may just be the opportunity they're waiting for.

The short worship service  is dubbed "the Awakening" as it just might jolt you out of that mid-week "hump." Better yet, it may awaken your latent spiritual abilities. The Intercessors' Meeting follows the service shortly.  Ask Pastor LJ about the young adult small group that meets after the worship, or ask Pastor Joannie about the Parenting Class she's planning to start on the same week night after the Awakening.

Baptism
-
We celebrated a happy occasion on the First Sunday of October when we witnessed the "burial and resurrection" of both Gabriela Virgen and Jose Montenegro as they were baptized by Pastor Hansel.

The two young adults have been attending Gospel Life Community and had requested baptism earlier to signify publicly their belief in and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. They plan to be a part of the next basic ten "Keys to the Kingdom" bible study.

PickUp At WFF Parade
Gospel Life's truck at the Walnut Family Festival Parade.
WFF Participation
Our participation at the Walnut Family Festival was prominently displayed during the parade.  Large picture posters on either side of the pick-up truck showed an image of our church with the planter in front showing the Gospel Life Community marquee.

The words "Built Upon A Rock" were imprinted at the bottom of the poster.  The Festival's theme was "Rockin' in the Park."

Pastor Tony Luciano was in charge of the parade preparations.  Ernie Jordan built the frame on the pick-up truck upon which the posters were hung.  Johnny Chua composed and printed the posters. Thanks to these men and all who joined the parade on foot for the 1.3 mile trek from the corner of Lemon Avenue and La Puente Road all the way down to Suzanne Road leading into Suzanne Park where the festival was held. Free calendars (2013) courtesy of Johnny and Nellie Chua, and candies were distributed along the parade route to the bystanders along the road.

Our youth had a successful Game Booth thanks to the persistence and patience of the youth leaders under Pastor L J.

When Planting Yields No Fruit

"You have planted much, but have harvested little...." - Haggai 1:6

Have you ever worked and worked only to yield very little from your efforts? Such was the case for the workplace believers during the time of the prophet Haggai. Finally, God spoke through the prophet Haggai to inform the people why their efforts were not yielding any fruit. There was a specific reason this was happening.

"You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?" declares the Lord Almighty. "Because of My house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house. Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the oil and whatever the ground produces, on men and cattle, and on the labor of your hands" (Haggai 1:9-11).

God had finally had enough. His priorities were not His people's priorities. So, He withheld in order to get their attention. Zerubbabel was governor of Judah at the time. He was a godly man who sought to do God's will. He listened as the prophet gave these words; then he responded.

"Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord their God and the message of the prophet Haggai, because the Lord their God had sent him. And the people feared the Lord "(Haggai 1:12).

Sometimes God has to stir up the spirit of one man to initiate needed change. Zerubbabel was that man. Scriptures say, "The Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel" (Hag. 1:14). God is stirring up the spirit of a remnant of workplace believers throughout the world today. They are seeing what breaks God's heart, and they're responding. Has God placed the spirit of Zerubbabel in you? Are you one who will make a difference for the Kingdom, or are you concerned about building bigger and better barns? The Lord is calling forth His people in these last days to make a difference. Ask Him what He wants to do through you.

Meditation

Dear God, I am so sorry for the times I have just stood by and said nothing when I could have spoken or acted to make a difference to impact the kingdom of darkness for You, the Lord of light and life.

Thank You for helping me to be bold, through the power of the Holy Spirit, and to speak the words that need to be said, even if they may be an affront to those around me.  As long as I am in Your will, I should not fear.

Thank You for using my words and life to draw others to You, and for helping me to become the ambassador You want me to be, to offer hope and extend life to those who live in darkness.

I am so grateful to You because You protect me and all of Your true children from harm and evil. "For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever." In Jesus' name, amen.
