ORDER YOUR ECO-PALMS

Palm Sunday is March 24 this year. Why not celebrate the triumphal entry of Christ using palm fronds that are fairly traded? Through the Eco-Palm Project, palms bought from harvesters are purchased at a fair price and cut down in a way that protects the environment.

 OUR JOURNEY TO VITALITY
A Message from Bishop Bruce R. Ough
to the Dakotas Conference
Grace and peace to you from Christ our Lord, who, when the days drew near for him to be taken up, set his face to go to Jerusalem and the cross (Luke 9:51).

The Dakotas Conference is also on an intentional journey. It is a similar "face forward" journey to unleash new life. It is a no-looking-back journey to becoming a more faithful and fruitful expression of the Kingdom of God. It is a journey toward vitality.

The Extended Cabinet and I are committed to increasing the capacity of the conference, districts and local churches to live into God's preferred future for us. Thus, we have currently identified four key vision pathways we believe we need to focus on in order to increase our capacity. The four pathways are:

- developing missional leaders,
 - equipping missional congregations,
 - extending missional impact, and
 - generating missional resources.

"The Dakotas Conference has a long standing relationship with the Sierra Leone Conference through the Kissy Eye Clinic.  Allocating $5,000 to the rebuilding of the Conference Center in Sierra Leone is a way we can continue our efforts," stated Rev. BISHOP OUGH ORDAINS LOCAL ELDERS IN MISSION IN VIETNAM

By Sandra Brands
February 14, 2013-Although the government has not yet recognized The United Methodist Church in Vietnam, the church in this Southeast Asian country is experiencing phenomenal growth, in part because of the commitment of its local leadership.

Twelve of those leaders were ordained Local Elders in Mission in early January.  The Vietnam Mission Initiative is one of several in Southeast Asia under the direction of the General Board of Global Ministries.

"The ordination service was an emotionally overwhelming experience and blessing, one I will always cherish," said Bishop Bruce Ough, leader of the Minnesota-Dakotas Episcopal Area.

Holy Healthcare
Despite all the news stories covering the Affordable Care Act (AKA "Obamacare"), or perhaps because of all the stories, the new system is still something of a mystery for many people. What is the ACA all about? Whom will it impact? And how should Christians evaluate of healthcare reform in light of biblical themes such as justice, mercy, and responsibility?
