Thanks for the Battleaxe (Thoughts from Rev. Scott McKirdy, Spearfish UMC)
In my growing years I only knew one grandparent - my grandma. She was a tough old woman, hard on the outside but soft on the inside. Because we always lived quite a distance away, we only got to see her once or twice a year as I was growing up. She had a tongue twice as sharp as any razor blade and was never afraid to speak her mind to you. Her name was Manda, but as a young woman people started calling her Mary. Much of the town of East Grand forks, MN, simply knew her as Grandma Mary. However, to us her grandchildren (who knew her pretty darned well), she shall always be simply know as the "The Battleaxe." |

Grinager Dedication Set for Saturday, April 13, 2013--Fundraising Continues to Guarantee Dedication
Circle Saturday, April 13, 2013 on your calendar for the dedication of the Grinager Cabin at Lake Poinsett Camp. The day will begin with lunch at noon followed by the dedication. It will be an excellent opportunity to greet three generations of the Grinager family that have been involved in the camping ministry and tour Lake Poinsett Camp.
A dedication means the Grinager Cabin is debt free. Because the Board of Camping and Youth Ministries decided to build the cabin earlier than originally planned to have it ready to use in case the smaller, older Lake Poinsett cabins were lost in the 2011 flood there is still nearly $70,000 outstanding on the Grinager Cabin. Plans are underway to retire the debt on the Grinager Cabin before April 1.
