Bishop Ough calls all to reach out to Hurricane Sandy victims

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult." (Psalm 46:1-3)

I greet you in the name and spirit of the Risen Christ. Our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean and the Northeast United States are suffering the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. Some have died. The securities of daily living, jobs, food and shelter have been torn from so many.

The news already has dismayed a number of United Methodist customers. Store closings have been underway since 2010. The one retail store in Michigan, located in Plymouth, closed its doors in  January 2011.

How does your local church benefit from national advertising?

  • Rethinkchurch.org highlights local church activities on the home page, allowing seekers to get a sense of your congregation's "personality"
  • Automatic notifications (via your church's email) will let you see how many are being exposed to your church because of the national advertising.
