Fear not: a rather difficult task as there is so much trouble in our world which gives birth to fear. Each day, we hear of yet another conflict, a war, a bombing, severe droughts and famine. Unsettled minds and hardened hearts seem to be the norm. We may well feel powerless. After all, what can we do to halt the spread of such pain and misery as seen in the faces of the Syrian refugees and the hatred and loathing in the faces of those who stand in their way to freedom and a better life? Fear not: renegade police who take egregious liberty with the law. With broad strokes they paint a negative image that taints the reputation of the overwhelming, vast majority of the men and women who serve their local communities across the country with respect, pride and all the while upholding the law. War lords who dominate via intimidation and cruelty, by starving their people and choking the air from out of their lungs. How can we do anything about these tyrants, these zealots, these armed cowards? What weapons are we to use? What do we have at our disposal? We have prayer. We have an Eternal and Benevolent God. We have Jesus the Redeemer. We have a faith that must remain and always be unwavering, unyielding, uncompromising. Strong in the face of adversity, brave and heroic in the teeth of evil which gnarl away seeking to tear us apart and bring us down. My sisters and brothers in Christ, my dear friends, my loved ones, Christmas is all about Light and Beauty. Lest we forget, sadly, that for much of our world there is still darkness and ugliness that rule the lives of so many. Regardless, it is our duty, our mandate, our job to help bring Jesus the Light into the world, as we can, as we must. Whether we call out in prayer to Yahweh, Allah, God Almighty...He is the One true God. The God of Abraham, of Issac, of Ishmael, of David, of Mohammad, of Mary, of Joseph, of Nicholas, of Jesus, of us. As we celebrate and commemorate the birth of our Savior, let us pray, whether aloud or silently, that we serve as instruments of peace, heralds of the Good News, victorious in our efforts to bring Light into the world. From your vicar's ever grateful heart I share my warmest and loving blessings for a Merry Christmas and a New Year truly happy, safe, healthy and spiritually prosperous.

For Unto Us Is Born A Savior
|
"And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them."
-Luke 2: 1-20

Pledge to Help St. Nicholas Grow |
Pledge to help St. Nicholas be even better |
While our annual St. Nicholas Stewardship Campaign has officially ended, there is still time for us to submit our Pledge for the 2016 year . However, we ask that these pledge forms be submitted sooner than later. Pledges help us to create our yearly budget, to pay our bills and to keep our doors wide open for all to come, worship, meet and grow spiritually and emotionally. Without the pledge forms, it is difficult for us to create a working budget. It is my hope that we all take the time needed, to pray, to ponder and consider how best we can help sustain and grow our house of worship. There are many ways to pledge; consider which is best for you and your family. If you have any questions, please reach out and I will assist as I am able and/or direct you to a member of our Finance Team. Be assured of my most grateful thanks to each and all. The sacrifices made; the time, talent and treasures offered to our St. Nicholas Church never fails to astonish and humble me. It is an honor that I am called to serve this community of faith. Remember: St. Nicholas is not only where I "work," but it is where I worship and proudly call this place my home, too. My prayers and love are yours. -Manny

To all our merry elves who pitched in and helped decorate the Christmas trees, the Angel Tables and made everything look so lovely. My goodness, one merry elf even provided tasty treats for us to enjoy. Our church looks simply stunning!
To the Williams Family: LeWayne, Earl, Tameica and Eason, who hustled and bustled their way Sunday afternoon cleaning and polishing the Gathering Space, bathrooms and entrance way, making sure the place looks spiffy for the holiday celebrations. You are amazing and we are so blessed by your constant consideration and care.
To Steve Raftery who proclaimed the Gospel and shared with us his reflection and thoughts. Thank you for enlightening us a bit more on the Magnificat and about the Blessed Virgin Mary. Wonderful and blessed message, good brother.
To the Order of St. Luke who shared their healing ministry, bringing joy and hope to so many of our community members. We are blessed in so many ways because of what you share with us.
