We've all seen those wonderful Church bulletin announcements before--you know, the well-meaning but often misleading and laugh-provoking announcements. Meant to be helpful and give direction, these notes, alas, perhaps give an entirely new meaning! Well, here are a few of them. Hope they bring a chuckle or two your way. Enjoy and pass the smiles on!
The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
The sermon this morning, 'Jesus Walked on the Water.' The sermon tonight: 'Searching for Jesus.'
Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
Don't let worry kill you off - let the Church help.
Miss Charlene Mason sang, "I will not pass this way again," giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
For those of you who have children and don't know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.
Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.
At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be "What Is Hell?" Come early and listen to our choir practice.
Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.
Please place your donation in the envelope along with the deceased person you want remembered.
The church will host an evening of fine dining, supper entertainment and gracious hostility.
Potluck Supper Sunday at 5:00pm. Prayer and medication to follow.
The ladies of the Church have cast-off clothing of every kind. They may be seen in the basement on Friday afternoon.
This evening at 7 PM there will be a hymn singing in the park across from the Church. Bring a blanket and come prepared to sin.
Ladies Bible Study will be held Thursday morning at 10 AM. All ladies are invited to lunch in the Fellowship Hall after the B. S. is done.
The pastor would appreciate it if the ladies of the Congregation would lend him their electric girdles for the pancake breakfast next Sunday.
Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM. Please use the back door.
The eighth-graders will be presenting Shakespeare's Hamlet in the Church basement Friday at 7 PM. The congregation is invited to attend this tragedy.

Hauling Time in the Garage
|
All hands on deck July 27 & 28 after the weekend liturgies.
|
Our annual St. Nick's Knacks Rummage Sale is just around the corner.
On the weekend of July 27 & 28, after the 4:30PM and 10AM liturgies, we'd like to pull out items we will sell that are currently in the 'new garage.' There are bags of clothes and boxes of "this and that." Also, there are quite a few pews that used to be in the church many years ago. The pews had been taken apart and stored away at the old vicarage, then moved to the new garage when the vicarage was sold by the Diocese.
We hope to put the pews together and sell them at the rummage sale. If you're interested in a pew, here's your chance to purchase one!
We could use help hauling the wood out of the garage and into the church and lastly, putting the pews together. Your help would be greatly appreciated and welcomed.
And...don't forget to clean out those closets and basements, crawl spaces and attics...if it's sell-able, let's give it a try at our rummage sale.

A village-wide activity for St. Nicholas to be part of...
|
Throughout the month of July, the houses of worship throughout the Village will be collecting new and gently-used children's books. These books will be gathered and placed in new back packs and distributed to the children. Your contributions will be greatly and warmly appreciated. A collection box is placed in the Gathering Space at St. Nicholas. Let's see how full we can get this box, shall we? God bless, one and all.

Cathy Walters and her continued recovery and return to a full and active life with her new heart!
Nancy Allan whose poor health will keep her from joining us at worship for the next few weeks. Pray for her well being and full recovery.
Ethel 'Corkey' Stratton, Hal's Mom, she has suffered mini-strokes and is battling dementia and Alzheimers: that she regain some strength and mobility and her loved ones are blessed with patience and acceptance.
Victims of violence, war, oppression, discrimination and poverty.
Bernie, Eunice's youngest son who has taken a serious turn and is back in the hospital. Pray for his recovery and for the well being of his family.
**The young lady who needed emergency food assistance to feed her two, young children while she is in the hospital.
For Eunice Dohra, Marcia Kizior, Pamela Joy DeHaven, Richard and Mary Gans: members and family of our community of St. Nicholas who continue to experience health concerns: for the full restoration of sound health and a productive life.
Peter Barlow, son of Bill and Kathy Barlow: for his safety and the safety of all our military men and women overseas. (**written prayer requests collected during Liturgy)

To M.E. Eccles for sharing her time and ministry with us last weekend. Thanks, M.E. and know you're always welcome here at St. Nicholas!
To all who give so generously and lovingly to the food pantry and help the community of St. Nicholas with visits to the Giving Tree.
