ArtRemsenburg presents
Esly E. Escobar: Welcome to the Jungle
At the Remsenburg Academy
ArtRemsenburg's Emerging Artist of 2015, Esly E. Escobar is a self-taught artist who wants to be a positive influence in the world. He paints Jackson Pollock-style by dripping and dropping paint onto canvas and object. Then he super-imposes graffiti-like line drawings of characters onto the dry work. This process creates fascinating, whimsical and surprising works that never fail to delight. "I came to this world to build, I love to create. Putting colors together is like preparing a delicious meal from a secret basket" says Esly in describing his work. Exhibition dates are August 28 - September 8, 2015. Hours are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 11 AM - 5 PM.
The Remsenburg Academy, 130 South Country Road, Remsenburg NY
Now through September 30
Marshall Crossman: Water's Edge and Pieter Greeff: Faces of the Sea
At Quogue Gallery

Crossman is a California-based contemporary artist who is primarily a studio painter working in oil. Peter Greeff is a lifelong resident of Quogue whose paintings embody the east end of Long Island - its light, marine scenes and beach life. Vital A Tea Room & Gallery Presents
Katherine Liepe-Levinson Solo Show: Earth/Water Series
Opening Reception: 5 - 7 PM
Fine Art Photography, Precious Natural Resources
At the reception, guests will enjoy refreshments with teas, juice shots and "mocktails" by owner Carolyn Poncato. Katherine Liepe-Levinson's Earth/Water Series is at once mysterious and sublime. Her shimmering, almost otherworldly waterscapes, make one pause, look a little longer, and ponder more deeply on the infinite beauty of our natural world. She captures vibrant and unusual colors and patterns of water, wind, and reflections through fast shutter speeds and impeccable framing. Liepe-Levinson plays with the line between the abstract and the recognizable, anchoring her viewers nominally in reality as the ripples of her images visually rock us to and fro. Looking at her work, there is always more to see. On view through October 15.
Vital A Tea Room & Gallery, 49 E. Main St, Riverhead NY

WSHU Public Radio launches a new station for Long Island listeners!

WSHU Public Radio is thrilled to announce the launch of 107.5 FM, an all-classical music station for Eastern Long Island listeners. The signal replaces 103.3 FM and can be heard from Riverhead to Montauk, and from Mattituck to Shelter Island. A hallmark of WSHU's classical music programming is the extensive knowledge of our on-air hosts. Wading River resident Lauren Rico, host of Afternoon Classical, is a former French horn player who is inspired by WSHU's passionate, committed listeners. Kate Remington, WSHU's Music Director and host of Morning Classical, received a degree in piano performance and mass communication from the University of Wisconsin. Before joining WSHU, she honed her considerable skills as a music announcer at Wisconsin Public Radio, the Beethoven Satellite Network, and Vermont Public Radio. So tune in for favorites by Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms and their colleagues, along with selections that are off the beaten path, and new releases and composers! To those listeners who love our NPR News and Talk format ... don't worry! You can still tune in to WSHU's 89.9 FM frequency for quality public radio programs.
