Paintings by Peter Beston

Reception will be held Saturday, July 25, 5:00 - 8:00 PM, refreshments will be served. Exhibition open hours are Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays 3:00 - 7:00 PM. Peter Beston studied art at Croydon College of Art and Hampstead School of Art in London, and at West Dean College in Sussex, England. For many years he worked as an award-winning film editor, cutting features, documentaries, and commercials. Having settled on the East End, he now paints full-time. His work utilizes intensity of color and precise composition to lead the observer towards new insights into the familiar. The paintings in this exhibition explore the relationships and intersections between the natural and man-made worlds, and how darkness and light can mask or reveal forms and ideas that arise out of this process. "POETRY STREET...where every voice is heard!" welcomes writers of all ages to the Blue Duck Bakery Café for this series of "Open Mics", the spoken word project of Susan Dingle for the East End Arts' JumpstART program. The "Open Mics" are hosted by Susan Dingle and Robert "Bubbie" Brown; poets, community advocates, social workers and educators committed to honoring the creativity of all people.
