Barbara Vaughn: "Optasia" & Holland Cunningham: "The Chrystie Paintings"

At Quogue Gallery

Don't miss Quogue Gallery's dual exhibition of paintings by Holland Cunningham, "The Chrystie Paintings," and "Optasia," photographs by Barbara Vaughn on view through July 19. In his review for the Hamptons Art Hub, Charles Riley wrote: "Because they arrive on the wall of a gallery dry, neatly framed, too often trapped in glass, it is easy to forget the liquid life of paintings and photographs. A double exhibition at the utterly charming, spacious and sunlit Quogue Gallery of tender paintings by Holland Cunningham and knockout, large-scale photographs by Barbara Vaughn offers the perfect beach-season reminder of art's aqueous origins." At the Remsenburg Academy

Reception will be held Saturday, July 25, 5:00 - 8:00 PM, refreshments will be served. Exhibition open hours are Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays 3:00 - 7:00 PM. Peter Beston studied art at Croydon College of Art and Hampstead School of Art in London, and at West Dean College in Sussex, England. For many years he worked as an award-winning film editor, cutting features, documentaries, and commercials. Having settled on the East End, he now paints full-time. His work utilizes intensity of color and precise composition to lead the observer towards new insights into the familiar. The paintings in this exhibition explore the relationships and intersections between the natural and man-made worlds, and how darkness and light can mask or reveal forms and ideas that arise out of this process.
