"Duo Tuo" Art Show featuring artists Kirsten Benfield and Jerry Schwabe

At Ashawagh Hall, East Hampton

There will be a Reception Saturday, April 4 from 4 PM to 8 PM. Show hours are Friday 1-7 PM, Saturday 12-8 PM, Sunday 12-4 PM. Jerry Schwabe is a painter, photographer and sculptor. He has studied at various schools, including, the National Academy of Fine Arts, New School University, School of Visual Arts, the Art Students League, and the Golden Eagle. His award-winning work has been displayed at many solo and group shows. This show will feature Jerry's Paintings - Watercolors, Acrylics. A new series of watercolors titled "Wet Pavement" features muted tones. Contrastingly, other paintings are full of vibrant bursts of color pairings. Remembering an iconic era lost to time we will screen the 1925 epic silent film Ben-Hur, starring Ramón Navarro and Francis X. Bushman, featuring live organ accompaniment by Bernie Anderson silent film music composer, organist and orchestrator. Ben-Hur was the most expensive silent film ever made at a cost of six million dollars. The chariot race alone included a cast of thousands including Lionel Barrymore, Joan Crawford, Douglas Fairbanks, Lillian Gish, Samuel Goldwyn and Mary Pickford. Tickets $10. "POETRY STREET...where every voice is heard!" welcomes writers of all ages to the Blue Duck Bakery Café for this series of "Open Mics", the spoken word project of Susan Dingle for the East End Arts' JumpstART program. The "Open Mics" are hosted by Susan Dingle and Robert "Bubbie" Brown; poets, community advocates, social workers and educators committed to honoring the creativity of all people. Poets, comedians and storytellers are invited to sign up at 1:30 PM; the first 15 writers to sign-up have 3 minutes to perform original work. $5 fee for poets and audience members. EEA's JumpstART program is an innovative public arts collaboration to bring vitality to Downtown Riverhead through partnerships between artists and businesses.
