Sanctuary: North Fork Works of Art

Paintings by Danielle Malmet Rodger

Artist's Reception

5 - 8 PM

At the Greenport Harbor Brewing Company

Meet the artist at the reception! Danielle Malmet Rodger moved to the North Fork 10 years ago from New York City, after studying art at the University of Rochester. She worked in Graphic Design for a few years before joining Ultra Motion, the family business. After the birth of Lea, her first child, Danielle decided to stay home and be a full-time mom. Long drives with her children through the hamlets of the North Fork left her in awe of the beauty of the vast open spaces, the fields, farms and vineyards. The North Fork and her children inspire much of her art. "Sanctuary" is the title of the art show at Greenport Brewery. By definition, a sanctuary is a place of refuge or rest, a place where you can feel at peace. The collection is an expression of serenity. The works are individual retreats on canvas which exude calm, balanced with a bright energy evoked by the environs of the North Fork. A modern vision of the classical North Fork. Exhibition dates are July 4 through September 1, 2014. Tasting room and gallery hours are Sunday-Thursday 12-6 PM and Friday-Saturday 12-7 PM.

Sculpture Garden Featuring Kyle Pearce

At the Remsenburg Academy

The Remsenburg Academy is excited to introduce the Sculpture Garden at the Academy, courtesy of artist/sculptor Kyle Pearce. These whimsical and large metal animals and other creatures are forged from the hoods of old cars in Pearce's workshop in Tarpon Springs, Florida, where he lives on a sailboat on the Anclote River. Using a hammer, pliers and an acetylene torch Pearce, originally from Bethpage, reshapes car hoods into amazing and compelling new forms, which come to life as giraffes and cows, rhinos and mermaids. This is an art form practiced by Pearce for the last thirty years, and his vision is unique and fascinating. For viewing hours, visit http://remsenburgassociation.com/kyle-pearce-sculpture.html.
