Meet and Talk with Baymen and Fishermen from New Bedford and Montauk

While many people know that fishermen in New England and New York face shared challenges, ranging from regulations to hazardous weather, rarely can you learn directly from those involved in this traditional yet endangered occupation. Come join us for a tour, conversations, oral narratives and stories from local tradition bearers from both Montauk and New Bedford. This guided tour features Bonnie Brady of the Long Island Commercial Fishing Association, Sarah Broadwell, Chip Duryea and Dave Krusa of Montauk, and Reidar and Kirsten Bendiksen of New Bedford. Also featured will be Susan and Stephen Sanfilippo who sing traditional Long Island maritime songs. Reservations are required. Space is limited so reserve early. Art Show featuring Cynthia Wells - an artist's life; painting, illustration, animation

Oil paintings, silverpoints, fine art prints and art from her award-winning animated films. Wells started at The Walt Disney Studios mentored by the famous "nine old men". Instructor at Cal Arts and USC, Wells created Piazzanyc.com a project sponsored by NYFA and was the first woman nominated for 2 Annie Awards (animation's Oscars). Exhibition dates are May 23 through July 6, 2014.
