OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS: SHADOW Show
All Media, Juried Art Show 
Show Dates: March 14 - April 18, 2014 
Entry Dates: March 6, 7, 8

Open call for artist participation in the upcoming juried, all media art show Shadow at the East End Arts Gallery in Riverhead. Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: "They can be colorful and complex, or dark and obscuring. Either way, the use of shadow is one of the artist's best tools to evoke emotion while emphasizing form and focus." Guest juror of this show is artist Ivan Kustura. Original works in all media may be submitted, including: painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, video, sculpture and poetry; up to three entries can be submitted per artist. Visual art entries will be accepted on Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7 from 10AM to 4PM; and Saturday, March 8 from 10AM to 3PM at the EEA Gallery. Poetry entry deadline is February 25, 2014. Please note there is a new submission process for poetry entries, more info at below link. Opening reception will be held on Friday, March 14, 5 - 7 PM.

EEA's 3rd Annual National Art Competition: The Creative Process
Two-Dimensional Art Only
Show Dates: August 8 - September 24, 2014 
Guest Jurors: Gerald Peters and Peter Marcelle
Deadline: April 8, 2014 (Late entry deadline: April 15, 2014 for additional fee.) 
Your creative process is what makes your style unique. As an option for this show you may choose to leave part of your piece unfinished to give a peek into your personal artistic process, a hint of how your work evolves. This is not mandatory. Artists may enter up to five works for $45. Entries will be accepted through online entry form only. Submission deadlines: April 8, 2014, with an extended deadline of April 15, 2014 (additional fee applies.) Guest jurors are Gerald Peters (Owner, Gerald Peters Gallery); and Peter J. Marcelle (Director, Gerald Peters Gallery, New York, NY; Owner, Peter Marcelle Project, Southampton, NY). 'Best in Show' winner will receive a seven-day stay in EEA Artist Residence near Hamptons' Museums and Galleries, plus $1,000 and inclusion in a group show at the at The Peter Marcelle Project, art gallery in Southampton NY.

18th ANNUAL COMMUNITY MOSAIC STREET PAINTING FESTIVAL
To be held Sunday, May 25, 2014 in Downtown Riverhead
Sign-up on or before March 31 for special recognition
Open Call for Artists and Artisan Vendors to participate in this Memorial Day Weekend tradition in downtown Riverhead, presented by East End Arts. This free event draws 5,000 local residents and tourists. Festival fun for the family includes: street painting, art sale and exhibit, live music, theatre, drumming, dance, art demonstration, performances, face painting, and so much more! Sign up on or before March 31 and your name and link to your website will be listed on our event webpage, as well as on our promotional flier distributed to over 3,000 businesses and individuals. General registration deadline: May 15.

All Media, Juried Art Show  |  Show Dates: April 25 - June 13, 2014
Entry Dates: April 17, 18, 19 
Open call for artist participation in the upcoming juried, all media art show Line at the East End Arts Gallery in Riverhead. Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: "A torso by Matisse, a curve by Brancusi, a hand or a flower photographed by Stieglitz or Mapplethorpe, a Sumi-e brushstroke - artistic mastery is much evident in the exquisite, simple line." Guest jurors of this show are Hideaki Ariizumi, (Architect, Artist, and Owner of ArtSites Gallery) and artist Debbie Ma. Original works in all media may be submitted, including: painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, video, sculpture and poetry; up to three entries can be submitted per artist. Visual art entries will be accepted on Thursday, April 17 and Friday, April 18 from 10AM to 4PM; and Saturday, April 19 from 10AM to 3PM at the EEA Gallery. Poetry entry deadline is April 8, 2014. The 'muse' is the experience of inspiration that propels the creative process. Some artists think of 'her' as a 'woman'. Sometimes she is an actual woman - as in Picasso's various wives. But mostly it's just the spirit that feels present when the artist creates effortlessly and that seems to be missing when they are creatively 'stuck'.
