Northeast Stage's 30th Anniversary Masquerade Gala and Fundraiser

Open call for artist participation in the upcoming non-juried, all media Annual Members' art show, The Muse, at the East End Arts Gallery in Riverhead. Artists are encouraged to enter their work for guaranteed participation in this non-juried show; only requirement is that artists be or become a member of East End Arts at the time of drop-off. Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: "For this show enter a piece you felt you were the instrument your muse created through - or feature her in your work of art. ARTISTS: Get a jumpstART on your artistic career. Learn about the fundamentals involved to best grow your business - your art! Listen to other artists who have succeeded in making a living with their art. Take advantage of the amazing opportunity for your artwork to get high visibility through public presentation. Let the entire East End be your audience! This program is open to all visual and performing artists, of any discipline.  East End Arts has developed an intensive curriculum dedicated to the business side of art. It is our belief that with the necessary tools, an artist is better able to take advantage of creative opportunities that arise and be more likely to be aware of opportunities that exist. A limited number of artists of any discipline will be accepted into JumpstART. In addition to a number of workshops, all accepted participating artists will have the unprecedented opportunity to design and implement a public art project in downtown Riverhead during the Summer of 2014. OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS: EEA's SHADOW Show
Open call for artist participation in the upcoming juried, all media art show Shadow at the East End Arts Gallery in Riverhead. Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: "They can be colorful and complex, or dark and obscuring. Either way, the use of shadow is one of the artist's best tools to evoke emotion while emphasizing form and focus." Guest juror of this show is artist Ivan Kustura. Original works in all media may be submitted, including: painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, video, sculpture and poetry; up to three entries can be submitted per artist. CALL FOR ARTISTS APPLICATIONS: Saltonstall Arts Colony 2014 Residencies Artists and writers who live in New York State (including NYC) are invited to apply for fully-supported residencies at the Saltonstall Arts Colony in Ithaca, New York. 2014 categories include: Poetry; Fiction & Creative Nonfiction; Photography (film or digital) & Film; Painting / Sculpture / Visual Art. Five residents are in session at a time: one poet, one fiction or creative nonfiction writer, one photographer or filmmaker, and two visual artists. The stunning 200-acre Saltonstall Arts Colony is located just a few miles outside of downtown Ithaca in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region. New in 2014: In addition, two-week residencies will also be offered in the summer of 2014. There is no cost to attend Saltonstall. CALLING ALL VISUAL ARTISTS OF THE EAST END Local theater company Northeast Stage (www.northeaststage.org) is seeking masks for the Chinese auction at their 30th Anniversary Masquerade Ball Fundraiser. 50% of the proceeds from masks will be awarded to their respective artists. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: AMF INSTITUTE 2014 FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM The Atlantic Music Festival announces its call for entries for the Fellowship Program applicants. AMF Fellowship provides complete financial coverage of tuition, housing, and meals during the four weeks of residency. The program offers gifted young artists opportunities to perform and collaborate with internationally renowned artist-faculty members as resident artists of the Atlantic Music Festival. CALL FOR RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS Cow House Studios Visiting Artist Program (Wexford, Ireland) Visiting artists are invited to live and work at Cow House Studios for ten weeks each summer. Artists teach and facilitate the Studio's teen program: Art on the Farm. Positions are unpaid but provide a fantastic opportunity to travel to Ireland, live on a working family farm, work with young people, and make work in a unique environment. CALL FOR RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS Santa Fe Art Institute (Santa Fe, NM) is now accepting applications for their first thematic residency focusing on food justice. SFAI invites creative minds to come together and examine the territory of food justice. Together we will ask: How can we use diverse creative practices to confront inherent social, cultural and economic problems in our food system? How can we bring together insights from creative fields, environmental sciences, sustainable agriculture, critical theory, and food studies to have a local, national and international impact? CALL FOR ARTISTS: "Landscapes: From Metropolis to Arcadia" at the Art League of Long Island The Art League of Long Island invites artists from the tri-state area to submit entries to the upcoming juried exhibition titled "Landscapes: From Metropolis to Arcadia" showing April 6 through May 11, 2014. This exhibition in the "Common Thread" series will concentrate on landscape imagery. While usually thought of as representing natural scenery, the category may also embrace seascapes, cityscapes, garden scenes and woodlands, for example, and may be rendered both realistically or abstractly. CALL FOR ARTISTS SUBMISSIONS: "SOUTHAMPTON SCENES" Art Show & Postcard Contest The Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton is seeking images that highlight the many remarkable places in and around the Village and Town of Southampton for newcomers and residents to visit: shops, restaurants, historic sites, beaches, etc. Eligible artists reside on the East End and are a minimum age of 16. Selected submissions will be displayed in the Madelle Semerjiian Gallery in Rogers Memorial Library during April 2014. CALL FOR SCRIPTS: 2014 VSA Playwright Discovery Competition for Middle & High School Students Middle and high school students are invited to explore the disability experience-in their own life, the lives of others, or through fictional characters-by writing a script. Writers with and without disabilities are encouraged to submit a one-act script for stage or screen. Entries may be the work of an individual student or a collaboration by up to five students. The competition has three divisions with very rewarding prizes. Presented by the Kennedy Center. Application Deadline is April 28, 2014. CALL FOR ARTISTS: 8th Annual Outdoor Art Exhibition - Embracing our Differences Long Island Artists are invited to submit work that interprets and explores: the struggles and joys of living in a diverse community; the impact of prejudice and hatred on human dignity; the varied people, cultures and perspectives in our world. Final selections will be based on artistic excellence as well as addressing the themes listed above. Artists are encouraged to submit works relevant to Long Island. The artwork will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size - 16 feet wide by 12 feet high. Final selections will be made by professional artists, curators and art professionals. Hosted by the Suffolk Center on the Holocaust, Diversity & Human Understanding, Inc. Call for Artwork: Yo Soy... Je Suis... I Am... My Neighborhood The 2014 International Art Program for Children with Disabilities is now open for entries. Children with disabilities ages 5 to 18 are encouraged to create a portrait that illustrates themselves in their neighborhood. What makes their neighborhood awesome? Cool houses? Fun neighbors? A great park or playground? Student-artists are encouraged to illustrate all the important people, places, and landscapes of their local space that shape who they are and who they will be in the future. CALLING ALL RAPPERS, DANCERS, MARTIAL ARTISTS Battyle Royal is a documentary short film about competitive female artists in dance, rap and martial arts. All candidates will have to be PROFICIENT in the art form (ex. shows, tournaments or profession). All artists must be STRONG in technique and form for the performance. Female artists of all ages and ethnicity; passionate rappers, martial artists, and dancers who have been in competitions displaying their talents. If you would like to tell your story and want the world to know about your journey of talent vs. competition, this is the perfect project for you. Send headshot and video clips and in the subject line either put dance, martial arts, or rap. I will only need you for 2 to 2 1/2 hours (performance and small interview) one day shoot, flexible schedule. If you are a dancer, it will be at a rehearsal or dance space in Manhattan, if a rapper it will be in LIC or Queens, and martial artists location will be determined. PROMOTE YOUR WORK  Patch.com is offering an exciting FREE publicity opportunity for artists. The community news website has created a column called First Impressions - where an image of artwork is posted each week and readers respond by writing comments about what the work means to them. At the end of the week, the artist posts what they were thinking when they created the piece. Click on the title above to see the first installment featuring local photographer Meryl Spiegel's Scissored, from her Phantoms series. Patch is looking for artists to participate. All you need is a jpg of an image of your work (size: at least 72 dpi, at least 6 x 6 inches) and a paragraph describing what you were thinking when you created the artwork. SUFFOLK COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OFFERS HISTORY ALIVE GRANTS Funds Will Support Local History Exhibitions and Publications

The Suffolk County Historical Society is pleased to announce that stipends are available for local history organizations to underwrite the cost of new exhibitions, publications, and special projects. Historical societies are encouraged to apply to the Suffolk County Historical Society for stipends of up to $500, which will be awarded on a rolling basis throughout the year. The SCHS review committee is particularly interested in proposals that are innovative, engage the pubic, and advance the study of Long Island history. Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is offering informational webinars for organizations interested in applying to its Southern Exposure: Performing Arts of Latin America program, which brings exemplary contemporary and traditional dance, music and theater artists from Latin America to communities throughout the United States. The program supports tours developed collaboratively by presenter consortia that include public performances and opportunities for significant engagement with the visiting artists. The webinars will cover program eligibility criteria, project requirements, and the online application, as well as provide an opportunity to answer your questions. CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2014-15 ArtsCONNECT FUNDING PROGRAM Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation announces the availability of the online application for ArtsCONNECT, a program supporting tours of exemplary performing artists proposed by presenter consortia across the mid-Atlantic region. The application submission deadline for the 2014-2015 ArtsCONNECT program is Friday, March 14, 2014. NYFA's ONLINE APPLICATION FOR THE 2014 ARTISTS' FELLOWSHIPS IS NOW OPEN Artists' Fellowships are $7,000 unrestricted cash awards made to individual originating artists living and working in the state of New York. Grants are awarded in 15 artistic disciplines, with applications accepted in five categories each year. Since the awards began in 1985, NYFA has awarded over $27 million to over 4,400 artists. The Fellowship award is free for artists to apply! Application deadlines: February 10, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. for Crafts/Sculpture and Digital/Electronic Arts categories; and February 11, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. for Nonfiction Literature, Poetry, and Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts categories. USARTISTS INTERNATIONAL 2014: ROUND II of III GRANT APPLICATION DEADLINE APPROACHING USArtists International provides support for American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at significant international festivals anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories. The final application deadline for the 2014 program cycle is April 18, 2014 for projects taking place between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015. For more information, click here. RELIEF FUND FOR ARTISTS IN CT, NJ and NY IMPACTED BY HURRICANE SANDY The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to announce the creation of an emergency relief fund to support individual artists in all disciplines impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The application will be posted on www.nyfa.org and www.artspire.org and submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. The program will be open to literary, media, performing and visual artists residing in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. The fund is being launched with a $1 million leadership gift from the Andy Warhol Foundation, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and the Lambent Foundation, with additional support from individual donors and organizations who have held fundraisers, auctions and other events to support artists in need.

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN: EMERGENCY RELIEF RESIDENCIES AT THE VERMONT STUDIO CENTER The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc., as part of its Hurricane Sandy Emergency Relief Fund is collaborating with the Vermont Studio Center to assist visual artists who have experienced damage, losses, and/or displacement due to Hurricane Sandy by providing 4-week to 8-week studio residencies at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. Eligible professional visual artists can be working in any discipline and must reside in Connecticut, New Jersey, or New York. Impacts may include loss of work, loss of or damage to studio space, interruption of creative routine, or displacement. Applications are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis.
