"Four Points of View" Art Show 

At Ashawagh Hall, East Hampton 

The show will feature the work of Kirsten Benfield, Pingree Louchheim, Jerry Schwabe and Richard Udice. Hours are from 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturday, and 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday. A reception will take place on Saturday evening, November 16 from 4 PM to 8 PM. Jerry Schwabe is a painter, photographer and sculptor, living in the Hamptons. He has studied at various schools, including the National Academy of Fine Arts, New School University, School of Visual Arts, the Art Students League, and the Golden Eagle. His award-winning work has been displayed at many solo and group shows. This show will for the first time feature Jerry's photography. Paintings will also be included. Jerry paints for "the eyes and the soul" and his soft muted colors in many of his beach scenes reflect a sense of calmness and serenity. Contrastingly, many of his new paintings are full of vibrant bursts of unexpected color pairings.

OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS: EEA Annual Members' Show - THE MUSE
Open call for artist participation in the upcoming non-juried, all media Annual Members' art show, The Muse, at the East End Arts Gallery in Riverhead. Artists are encouraged to enter their work for guaranteed participation in this non-juried show; only requirement is that artists be or become a member of East End Arts at the time of drop-off. Gallery Director Jane Kirkwood encourages artists: "For this show enter a piece you felt you were the instrument your muse created through - or feature her in your work of art. It will get you on her good side." Original work only, no reproductions. Acceptable entries include painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, sculpture and poetry; one entry per artist. All work must be dropped off in person at the East End Arts Gallery in Riverhead on January 16 from 10 to 4, January 17 from 10 to 4, or January 18 from 10 to 3. Show dates are January 24 through March 7, 2014, with an Opening Reception on Friday, January 24. CALL FOR ARTISTS: "Making an Impression II" Printmaking Exhibit The Huntington Arts Council is now taking submissions for the "Making an Impression II" printmaking exhibit to run from December 20 through January 27, 2014 at the Main Street Petite Gallery in Huntington. Juror for this show is Stephanie Navon Jacobson. Opening reception will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 from 6-8 PM. Entry deadline is November 22, 2013. CALL FOR ARTISTS: The South Street Gallery's 10 x 10 Show and sale to benefit The North Fork Environmental Council The South Street Gallery is providing artists with 10 x 10 cradled birch plywood boards. Each work will be sold for $100; 25% of each sale going to the gallery and the remainder split between the artist and the NFEC. Boards may be picked up at the gallery Thursday through Monday 12-5PM. The first board is complimentary. Up to two additional boards may be purchased for $7 per board. The finished 10x10 works are due at the gallery by Sunday, November 24. CALL FOR ARTISTS: Exhibit at Reichert Family Center's Cosden Price Gallery in 2014 The Southold Historical Society is committed to working with local artists and not-for-profits who would like to utilize this new exhibition space during periods when the Society is not using it for their purposes. CALL FOR ARTISTS APPLICATIONS: Saltonstall Arts Colony 2014 Residencies Artists and writers who live in New York State (including NYC) are invited to apply for fully-supported residencies at the Saltonstall Arts Colony in Ithaca, New York. 2014 categories include: Poetry; Fiction & Creative Nonfiction; Photography (film or digital) & Film; Painting / Sculpture / Visual Art. Five residents are in session at a time: one poet, one fiction or creative nonfiction writer, one photographer or filmmaker, and two visual artists. The stunning 200-acre Saltonstall Arts Colony is located just a few miles outside of downtown Ithaca in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region. New in 2014: In addition, two-week residencies will also be offered in the summer of 2014. There is no cost to attend Saltonstall. The only charge associated with the residency program is a $25 application fee. Applications are due on Thursday, January 2, 2014 by 11:59 PM. CALL FOR ARTISTS: 8th Annual Outdoor Art Exhibition - Embracing our Differences Long Island Artists are invited to submit work that interprets and explores: the struggles and joys of living in a diverse community; the impact of prejudice and hatred on human dignity; the varied people, cultures and perspectives in our world. Final selections will be based on artistic excellence as well as addressing the themes listed above. Artists are encouraged to submit works relevant to Long Island. The artwork will also be evaluated on how effectively it will read outdoors when enlarged to billboard size - 16 feet wide by 12 feet high. Final selections will be made by professional artists, curators and art professionals. Hosted by the Suffolk Center on the Holocaust, Diversity & Human Understanding, Inc. Become a Music Together® Teacher: Lyrical Children Inc is seeking an enthusiastic, high energy person to work with kids (Birth to 5) and their caregivers teaching this worldwide Music & Movement Class in its East End locations from Calverton to Greenport. Experience managing a group is recommended but not required and training is provided. It is not required to have a music degree but the applicant should be able to sing in tune and move accurately to the beat. Availability is needed for morning classes during the week - flexible days. CALL FOR ARTISTS: Farmers & Artists & City Kids invites artists to work with visiting city youth. The historic 1831 Northville Grange near Riverhead makes a comfy base camp for visiting groups of 12 - 15 city youngsters (aged 7-12) and their chaperones while they explore the farms and art scene of the North Fork. Part of this program, local artists work with visiting city youngsters to show what inspires them to paint, dance, act, cook, sculpt sing or take photos. The artists show some techniques they use in their work and lead the group in a participatory art project on the Grange campus, or in a nearby outdoor setting. Farmers & Artists & City Kids is looking for featured artists! You can teach visitors what no one else can about life as a working artist. PROMOTE YOUR WORK  Patch.com is offering an exciting FREE publicity opportunity for artists. The community news website has created a column called First Impressions - where an image of artwork is posted each week and readers respond by writing comments about what the work means to them. At the end of the week, the artist posts what they were thinking when they created the piece. Click on the title above to see the first installment featuring local photographer Meryl Spiegel's Scissored, from her Phantoms series. Patch is looking for artists to participate. All you need is a jpg of an image of your work (size: at least 72 dpi, at least 6 x 6 inches) and a paragraph describing what you were thinking when you created the artwork. GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

 

USARTISTS INTERNATIONAL 2014: ROUND II of III GRANT APPLICATION DEADLINE APPROACHING USArtists International provides support for American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at significant international festivals anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories. The application deadline for the second of three grant rounds of the 2014 program is Friday, December 6, 2013 for projects taking place between March 1, 2014 and February 28, 2015. The final application deadline for the 2014 program cycle is April 18, 2014 for projects taking place between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015. For more information, click here. RELIEF FUND FOR ARTISTS IN CT, NJ and NY IMPACTED BY HURRICANE SANDY The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to announce the creation of an emergency relief fund to support individual artists in all disciplines impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The application will be posted on www.nyfa.org and www.artspire.org and submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. The program will be open to literary, media, performing and visual artists residing in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. The fund is being launched with a $1 million leadership gift from the Andy Warhol Foundation, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and the Lambent Foundation, with additional support from individual donors and organizations who have held fundraisers, auctions and other events to support artists in need.

APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN: EMERGENCY RELIEF RESIDENCIES AT THE VERMONT STUDIO CENTER The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc., as part of its Hurricane Sandy Emergency Relief Fund is collaborating with the Vermont Studio Center to assist visual artists who have experienced damage, losses, and/or displacement due to Hurricane Sandy by providing 4-week to 8-week studio residencies at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. Eligible professional visual artists can be working in any discipline and must reside in Connecticut, New Jersey, or New York. Impacts may include loss of work, loss of or damage to studio space, interruption of creative routine, or displacement. Applications are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis.
