Pre-college string students of all levels (ages 8-18) are invited to join our second annual collaborative project with the prestigious Perlman Music Program! This year's open rehearsal under the baton of Maestro Itzhak Perlman will be held at Southold High School on Thursday, August 1. Times to be announced.
All students interested in participating in this tuition-free program must pre-register prior to July 12. Sectional rehearsals will be held at EEA on Mondays, July 15, 22, 29, followed by a mandatory full rehearsal on Wednesday, July 31. Times to be announced.

Become a Music Together® Teacher: Lyrical Children Inc is seeking an enthusiastic, high energy person to work with kids (Birth to 5) and their caregivers teaching this worldwide Music & Movement Class in its East End locations from Calverton to Greenport. Experience managing a group is recommended but not required and training is provided. It is not required to have a music degree but the applicant should be able to sing in tune and move accurately to the beat. Availability is needed for morning classes during the week - flexible days. Call for Entry to PHOTOcentric 2013, an international juried photography exhibition at Garrison Art Center in Garrison, NY. Exhibition dates are September 7 through October 6, 2013. Reception for the Artists will be held Saturday, September 14, from 6 to 8PM. Final entry deadline is June 14. Jurors will be Robin Rice and Cig Harvey this year. Robin Rice is owner of Robin Rice Galleries, in New York City and Bridgehampton, representing about 30 photographers with many different styles and techniques. OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County (CCE) has been actively involved in the protection and restoration of local eelgrass meadows that are an important habitat for many biologically and economically important species of finfish and shellfish. To help raise community awareness, they are seeking artist responses to this issue and would like to see works inspired by underwater habitat reflecting the value of our local marine environment during our "Hops for Habitat" art show and sale in Montauk Brewing Company's Tasting Room from June 28 through July 31, 2013. Call for Entries: Artists Choose Artists at the Parrish Art Museum
Artists Choose Artists is the Parrish Art Museum's biennial juried exhibition that highlights artists on the East End and the dynamic relationships uniting the area's creative community. Seven notable artists of the region will jury the exhibition and ultimately choose two artists, per juror, whose work will be exhibited alongside his or her own. Artists Choose Artists is designed to catalyze creative networks, and encourage mentorships and conversations between artists at varying stages in their careers. The exhibition is open to works in all media. Applicants must reside full or part time in the zip code area beginning with 119. Jurors are Laurie Anderson, Judy Hudson, Mel Kendrick, David Salle, Ned Smyth, Keith Sonnier, and Robert Wilson. Application deadline is June 28, 2013. CALL FOR ENTRIES: Long Island Museum's Annual Juried Art Competition The Long Island Museum in Stony Brook will hold its annual juried art competition this summer in conjunction with the upcoming exhibition, Coney Island and Jones Beach: Empires by the Sea. This year's competition is titled Let's Go to the Beach and all amateur and professional artists are invited to submit up to three works representing Long Island's beaches. Deadline for entries is June 28, 2013. A panel of museum staff will select final entries, which will be displayed in the Visitors Center from August 10 through September 8, 2013. Judging for the contest takes place on Friday August 9 and the winners will be awarded at an artist's reception on Sunday, August 11 from 2 to 4 PM. Winning entries will be displayed in the Art Museum, along with the Coney Island and Jones Beach exhibition from September 12 through 29, 2013. The reception is free and open to the public. Opportunity for Fine Craft Artists The Long Island Craft Guild invites entries for the exhibit "Feast or Famine" to be held in the fall of 2013 at the prestigious Jeanie Tengelsen Gallery of the Art League of Long Island in Dix Hills, NY. This is an exhibit of fine craft: eligible media are clay, fiber, glass, paper, leather, metal/jewelry and wood. Mixed media pieces are acceptable; no painting, drawing or photography. At the end of the week, the artist posts what they were thinking when they created the piece. Click on the title above to see the first installment featuring local photographer Meryl Spiegel's Scissored, from her Phantoms series. Patch is looking for artists to participate. RELIEF FUND FOR ARTISTS IN CT, NJ and NY IMPACTED BY HURRICANE SANDY The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to announce the creation of an emergency relief fund to support individual artists in all disciplines impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The application will be posted on www.nyfa.org and www.artspire.org and submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis. The program will be open to literary, media, performing and visual artists residing in Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. The fund is being launched with a $1 million leadership gift from the Andy Warhol Foundation, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and the Lambent Foundation, with additional support from individual donors and organizations who have held fundraisers, auctions and other events to support artists in need.
APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN: EMERGENCY RELIEF RESIDENCIES AT THE VERMONT STUDIO CENTER The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc., as part of its Hurricane Sandy Emergency Relief Fund is collaborating with the Vermont Studio Center to assist visual artists who have experienced damage, losses, and/or displacement due to Hurricane Sandy by providing 4-week to 8-week studio residencies at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT. Eligible professional visual artists can be working in any discipline and must reside in Connecticut, New Jersey, or New York. Impacts may include loss of work, loss of or damage to studio space, interruption of creative routine, or displacement. Applications are accepted and awarded on a rolling basis with residencies scheduled beginning January 2013. For more information please visit
