Art in the Park is an Art League tradition that has attracted thousands of discerning art lovers each year for more than 45 years. CALL FOR LONG ISLAND ARTISTS: Embracing our Differences Long Island 2013 The Suffolk Center on the Holocaust, Diversity & Human Understanding, Inc. is seeking submissions for the 7th Annual Outdoor Art Exhibition, Embracing Our Differences. The call is open to students, professionals and amateurs of all ages. Artists are asked to submit work that interprets and explores: the struggles and joys of living in a diverse community; the impact of prejudice and hatred on human dignity; the varied people, cultures and perspectives in our world. OPEN CALL TO ALL ARTISTS: "In Memoriam" Juried Group Show, Memorial Day Weekend In the spirit of Memorial Day, Neoteric Fine Art is calling for art that serves as a specific, memorial to any subject, keeping relevant to the theme of remembrance and respect. Artists may submit up to (3) pieces for consideration, of these (1) may be selected for the juried final show. Upon inclusion, there will be a $25 participation fee due at delivery. A guest judging panel will declare a "Best in Show", who will then receive a future exhibition at the gallery. All submissions must be JPEG images, sent to info@neotericfineart.com by Sunday, May 19 at 5 PM. Artists will be notified of their inclusion in the show by Tuesday, May 23. CALL FOR LONG ISLAND ARTISTS: Arts Alive LI, a program of the Long Island Arts Alliance, Poster Contest Students, amateurs and professional artists are encouraged to celebrate the arts and Long Island by participating in the 2013 Arts Alive LI Festival Poster Contest. This contest, which runs from February 4, 2013 to May 24, 2013, represents a unique opportunity for residents of all ages to become involved with the premier month-long multi-venue arts festival on Long Island. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the first and second place winners and gifts will be presented to third and honorable mentions in each of five (5) categories including: Pre-K- Grade 2, Grades 3-6, Grades 7-12, Adult amateur (age 18+) and Professional. ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE OPPORTUNITY The William Steeple Davis Trust of Orient, Long Island is now accepting applications for an artist-in-residence for the period of October 15, 2013 through October 1, 2014. Applications are due by June 1, 2013. The William Steeple Davis Trust artist-in-residence program was established in 1976 under the will of Mr. Davis to "provide a temporary place of abode for persons of good character who are or have been actively engaged in cultural professions, particularly in the arts, and who are without adequate funds to provide for such accommodations." Past residents' endeavors have included painting, photography, writing, sculpting, poetry and music. The Davis house and studio are located in Orient, on the eastern end of the North Fork of Long Island, New York. The house and studio are in a quiet location within sight of Orient Harbor, within walking distance of public beaches, open fields and marshes, a post office and a small country store. Call for Artists: Southampton Cultural Center's 2013 Juried Art Exhibition Juror is Helen Harrison, Eugen V. and Clare E. Thaw Director, Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center. Entry deadline is Monday, June 3, 2013. Exhibition dates are September 10 through October 6, 2013. Top Honors will be awarded to three artists for an exhibition in 2014 titled "Three Winners." INTERNSHIP APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED The Sculptors Guild Internship Program currently has openings for two interns in our DUMBO office. Students with graphic design skills and/or administrative skills are invited to apply. Graphic Design students will get supervision and experience designing promo materials for upcoming exhibitions and events, working on our website, and updating Guild materials. Art Admin students will have an opportunity to participate in exhibition and event planning for our upcoming events as well as day-to-day business activities in their DUMBO office.
