CALL FOR ARTISTS & CRAFTSMAN: EEA'S HOLIDAY MARKET The East End Arts Gallery seeks unique, one-of-a-kind artists' works and wares for the Annual Holiday Market. Starting on November 30, through the month of December, gorgeous hand-made ornaments, one-of-a-kind jewelry and wearables, and unique ceramics and crafts will fill East End Arts' three galleries from top to bottom as visitors from all over Long Island come to the Gallery to buy exclusive and inspired items, perfect for gift-giving during the holiday season. No entry fee! Artists interested in participating have two options for applying: by in-person interview or by mailing-in a CD. Mail-in applications must be received by the East End Arts Gallery by Saturday, November 3, and in-person interviews must be scheduled by Friday, November 9 by calling 631-727-0900. PROMOTE YOUR WORK Patch.com is offering an exciting FREE publicity opportunity for artists. The community news website has created a column called First Impressions - where an image of artwork is posted each week and readers respond by writing comments about what the work means to them. At the end of the week, the artist posts what they were thinking when they created the piece. Click on the title above to see the first installment featuring local photographer Meryl Spiegel's Scissored, from her Phantoms series. Patch is looking for artists to participate. All you need is a jpg of an image of your work (size: at least 72 dpi, at least 6 x 6 inches) and a paragraph describing what you were thinking when you created the artwork. CALL FOR WORK: FIBER EXHIBITION at the Carnegie Art Center Opening Reception is Thursday, November 29 and the exhibition will run from the opening on November 29 through Thursday, December 27, 2012. The judge for this exhibition is Jozef Bajus, Associate Professor of Design and Coordinator of the Fibers Program at Buffalo State College. CALL FOR ARTISTS: 10 x 10 Show at The South Street Gallery Stop by The South Street Gallery in Greenport and pick up a complimentary 10x10 cradled birch plywood board for our sixth annual 10x10=100 Art Show and Sale to benefit The North Fork Environmental Council. The first board is complimentary. Up to two additional boards may be purchased for $7 each. CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Poetry Chapbook Competition The Center for Book Arts invites submissions to its annual Poetry Chapbook Competition. The deadline for the 2013 competition is December 1, 2012. The winning manuscript will be chosen in the spring of 2013 and will be awarded with the publication of a beautifully designed, letterpress-printed, limited-edition chapbook printed and bound by artists at the Center for Book Arts. The edition is limited to 100 signed and numbered copies, ten of which are reserved for the author and the remainder of which will be offered for sale through the Center. The winning poet will also receive a cash award of $500, and a $500 honorarium for a reading, to be held at the Center in the fall of 2013, as well as an exclusive opportunity to stay at the Millay Colony for the Arts in Austerlitz, New York as one of their Winter Shakers. Group for the East End Seeking Volunteer Photographers Volunteers are needed to photograph the Group's environmental educators in action during classroom and field trip lessons. The Group will provide a tax letter for professional photographers who donate their time.
