PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

ARTIST'S RIGHTS

Carol J. Steinberg
is an attorney who represents creative individuals and organizations in New York City and on the East End of Long Island. She is a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts and is a consultant to the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

Saturday, November 3, 12:00-2:30PM

With Carol Steinberg, Esq.

Can you use images in your artwork just because they are out there? Justin Bieber's image? other artists' images incorporated into yours? What about photographing people in the street? photos of your artwork? Have you signed your rights away in a work for hire agreement? Do you know how to protect your ability to sue by registering your copyright? What can you do if your artwork is damaged? mutilated? not properly displayed? This workshop will focus on basic artists' rights--copyright (your bundle of rights), fair use (when can you legally use others' copyrighted work?), using images of others. The purpose is to help you protect your creative assets, make money from them, protect their integrity, and keep from being sued. There will be lots of examples and plenty of time for Q and A.

Cost: $30 EEA members / $45 nonmembers
