Big South Announces the Addition of a Facility
Recently it became apparent that the requests for entry into the Big South would be greater than the space capacity secured for the event. Although we always plan for growth, we were not aware that this year would mark the 75th anniversary of the NCAA who is hosting the Final Four at the GWCC. The Final Four will be starting their move in during our event and had secured some of the space on the campus of the GWCC preventing us from further expansion. At that point we were faced with a true dilemma; turn away a good deal of teams or try and find an additional facility.
In order to be able to accommodate the additional 150+ teams that applied for entry, we have been able to secure a great facility in a terrific part of Atlanta -- the Cobb Galleria Centre with 24 courts.
Cobb Galleria Centre is just 20 minutes from downtown located just off the interstate. The Centre is attached to the Galleria Specialty Mall
and has three fantastic restaurants located just steps away from the front door -- Jocks and Jills, Buckhead Pizza and Big Chow Grill. The parking is free at the Centre. Numerous other restaurants are within walking distance.
Teams participating in the age divisions assigned to the Cobb Galleria will play no more than one day of their three-day schedule at that location. So all teams will be playing at the GWCC as well.
