Most coaches agree that among the hardest skills to teach in volleyball are proper approach, jump and arm swing. With Acuspike's innovative ball reloading system and reload hopper, an athlete can practice their approach and jumping limits to exhaustion without a setter or a net. For more information visit the Acuspike website or Facebook page

Virtual Showcase

Tournament Magic VIRTUAL SHOWCASE comes to A-Town Showdown!

On Friday, January 18th, Tournament Magic is hosting a new, improved and innovative VIRTUAL VOLLEYBALL SHOWCASE AT A-TOWN SHOWDOWN. Lots of showcase events say they are different.  But this showcase really is different.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Players showcase their talent BY POSITION on separate courts

  • Easy for college coaches to evaluate your talent in your position.
  • Easy for college coaches to see you performing your best talent.
  • Every player gets her own individualized video within 7 days
  • PLAYERS get a URL to send to college coaches of her choice
  • Allows any college coach you want to have your skills video
  • Lets college coaches use University Athlete's program to evaluate you - college coaches' favorite tool
  • Recruiters can watch you play in tournaments with the notes they took

WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT?

  • COLLEGE COACHES DON'T HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO SEE YOU SHOWCASE YOUR TALENT.
  • They can search the video site by position to see YOU perform.
    • Coaches from all over can view what they want to see about you
    • Drills and format planned from college coach input - it's what they want to see
  • MAXIMUM OF 15 PLAYERS per court - no mass numbers of players per court
    • You get more touches so your talent can actually be seen
    • Coaches do not need or want to see lots of tape - they need to see your good touches and what you can do
  • SESSION LASTS ABOUT ONE HOUR
    • NO SCRIMMAGING to tire you out before competition the next day
  • DRILLS run FROM ONE SIDE of the court ONLY
    • MAXIMIZES your VISIBILITY on your video
    • MINIMIZES the CHANCE OF INJURY
  • PLAYERS STAY ON ONE COURT the whole session
    • Easier for college coaches to find you and view you.
  • Drills show what COLLEGE COACHES want to see
    • Drills designed from college coaches input
  • Highly experienced court coaches
    • They know how to help you showcase your talent

Dig Pink Day!

Dig Pink We are proud to announce that Dig Pink will be returning to A-Town Showdown! Dig Pink is part of the Side-Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation is committed to the unification of the sport of volleyball and its alliance with the movement for breast cancer awareness and education. Make sure to wear pink on Saturday, January 19 to show your support.

Practice & Play Times

Teams may use one court for one hour on Friday, January 18, between 4 pm to 7 pm, provided we are finished setting up all the courts.  Teams MUST check in prior to using a court for practice. Court use is first come first served basis on unused courts.  We reserved the right to deny practice time if circumstances dictate. All players and spectators must leave the halls by 7:00 pm.

Competition begins at 9 am on Saturday, January 19, 2013.  The event runs in waves. The morning wave begins at 9 am; the afternoon wave begins at 3:30 pm. We will post exact starting times for age groups soon. All teams should be prepared to play at 9 am on Day 1.

Final matches on most courts are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, January 21. BE AWARE, that many courts run late on the 3rd Day.  Playing times for 2nd and 3rd days will depend on how the team finishes the day before. DO NOT assume you play in the same wave on the second day as you did on first.
