Campos grew up in South Sacramento and is a graduate of Elk Grove Unified schools, having attended Samuel Kennedy Elementary School, James Rutter Elementary School and Florin High School. Campos also volunteers outside of the school with her oldest son at the Sacramento Food Bank. Campos is married to Tom Campos. 2013 EGUSD Science Fair and Invention Convention winners announced
Which bubble gum has the longest lasting flavor? Does temperature affect the metamorphosis of a butterfly? Will adding electricity to plants' soil improve growth?
These inquiries and many others were among the questions solved at the 2013 Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) Science Fair and Invention Convention, held from March 20-21, 2013.
This year, 29 elementary schools, as well as three middle and three high schools submitted over 166 entries to the annual contest. Entries were judged on March 21, 2013 and displayed in the board room at the Robert L. Trigg Education Center from March 20-21, 2013.
"Each year, schools are asked to conduct their own site science fairs to determine one representative from each grade level to represent their school," said Anne Zeman, Ed.D., director of curriculum and professional learning for the district. "The entries in the district science and invention fair include many of the bright young science scholars of tomorrow."
First place winners will be notified by the Department of Curriculum and Professional Learning of their achievement. They will be recognized at the April 16, 2013 EGUSD Board of Education meeting.

Students, parents, community members "Celebrate Smedberg"
Have you ever wondered what middle school is like?
The staff and students at T.R. Smedberg Middle School answered that question on their own terms at their annual "Celebrate Smedberg" Open House on Thursday, March 21, 2013.
"Celebrate Smedberg Open House is an invitation for Smedberg parents, as well parents from our feeder elementary schools - Robert Fite, Maeola Beitzel, Mary Tsukamoto and Arthur C. Butler - to come to our campus and experience all of the incredible programs we have to offer," said Richard Wall, interim principal at Smedberg. "This event gives us the opportunity to showcase our school with displays of student's projects, demonstrations and also student performances."
In addition to classroom visits and exhibits, Smedberg hosted a variety of food booths, game booths and community exhibits for the entire family to enjoy. Food booths offered an assortment of choices, including Cold Stone ice cream, donuts, soda, ice cream floats, candy grams, popcorn, pizza, hot dogs, chili dogs and an array of Asian foods.
Game/interactive activity booths included a dart game hosted by the Fantasy Cards & Games Club, a photo booth sponsored by leadership students, a golf putting game hosted by the Golf Club and a cool car contest and Face Time game hosted by the Cool Car Club.
