Greetings!

It is hard to believe that December is here and the year is coming to a close. Please take a moment to look through the programs and events taking place at The Center this month as we wrap up 2014.

Holiday Party & Boutique

The Center's annual Holiday Party & Boutique returns on Friday, December 5th from 5-9 p.m. Bring a friend and join us for this fabulous party and shopping event!

Enjoy a glass of wine or craft beer and light hors d'oeuvres as you browse one-of-a-kind hand-crafted jewelry, ceramic creations, original gift cards, artisan chocolate, fashion accessories, comic book-themed items, stained glass, handmade soaps and much more. Artist Charlie Churchill will be on hand to sketch portraits of guests that they can take home with them. And

Admission is just $10 at the door. Children under 12 are free. All proceeds support programs and operations at The Center.

Remember that the first 50 guests receive a free swag bag filled with special one-of- a kind items!

Members' Juried Exhibition

In a survey this summer, an overwhelming majority of The Center's members cited more exhibition opportunities as something they would like to see as a benefit. We listened, and to start the New Year, The Center is pleased to invite its members to enter a Juried Exhibition in partnership with Wallflowers' Gallery W in Bernardsville.

The exhibit will be on view from February 2-28, 2015 at Gallery W, 35 Mill Street, Bernardsville with an opening reception on Friday, February 6th from 6-8 p.m.

The juror is Virginia Fabbri Butera, PhD, Director of the Therese A. Maloney Art Gallery, tenured Professor of Art History and Chairperson of the Art and the Music Programs at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown.

Hurry! The entry deadline is Monday, December 15th.

Winter Art Classes & Workshops

Registration is open for all winter 2015 classes and workshops.

The winter session of classes and workshops for children and adults begins on Monday, January 5th. After the whirlwind of December, the winter session is a great time to carve out some time to reconnect with your creative side. Don't forget to take advantage of our open studio times to work on ongoing projects and get to know fellow students.

The new format for childrens' classes launched this fall was very popular with most of the overview (Draw, Paint, Throw!) and in-depth (Draw!, Paint! and Throw!) classes filled to capacity. Children enjoyed gallery visits and parents, caregivers and young artists all loved the mini exhibits at the end of each class.

Don't wait to register! The Center's office will be closed from the afternoon of December 23rd through January 1st, but registration is always available online.

Kids' Art Night Out

Parents, could you use a little extra time this month to finish last minute shopping? Were you invited to a party but can't find a sitter? Or do you just want to enjoy a quiet date night before the holidays?

Bring your children to The Center for Contemporary Art on Friday, December 19th from 6:00-10:00 pm!

Kids ages 5-12 years old will create two winter art projects led by art instructors plus enjoy a snack and a movie.

Pre-registration for members:

$25 for the first child and $20 per additional child

Pre-registration for non-members and walk-in registration:

$35 for the first child and $30 per additional child

Year-end Giving

You know about Black Friday and Small Business Saturday and even Cyber Monday. Have you heard about #GivingTuesday? This is a day when charities and communities come together to celebrate generosity and to give. And it is tomorrow!

You may have seen The Center's social media campaign on our facebook, twitter and instagram pages sharing photos or "UNselfies" (like the one above) of members, students and supporters holding up signs that say why they support The Center for Contemporary Art.

December is a short and very busy month here! I hope that you can squeeze in one of our fabulous workshops. If not, be sure to stop by the Holiday Boutique on December 5th for shopping and fun with friends and family. Also remember to check out the excellent Juried Exhibition which remains on view only through December 13th.
