Greetings!

We are excited about so many things happening this fall, beginning with the long-awaited "You're U.S. - At Home With America" exhibit which opens on Friday from 6-8 p.m. Artwork is already starting to come in for the "Off The Wall" art auction in October, along with vendor applications for this year's Holiday Party & Boutique!

Fall Art Classes & Workshops

Fall classes for children and adults begin September 15th and registration is open! Please sign up for your very favorites, but also take a look at some of our new classes with new instructors Sarah Brenneman (abstract painting), Carrie Di Costanza (botanical gouache), Joanna Wezyk (acrylics), Kathryn Davis (aesthics in clay), Mimi Topping (zentangles) and Oscar Peterson (drawing).

New this year, we will be offering open studio time to currently-enrolled students for $5/hour and free access to members on a first-come first-served basis!

Fall classes for children are designed for all ages and levels of expertise, and classes may be repeated for ongoing development. Eight-week mixed media overview classes cover a variety of media, delve into art history and explore The Center's exhibits. Six-week in-depth classes deepen skills in drawing, painting or ceramics. All classes will end with a mini exhibit of student work.

You're U.S. - At Home With America

After years in the works, "You're U.S. - At Home With America" opens this Friday, kicking off a national tour! For four years artist and itinerant painter Emile Klein has cycled throughout the country and into the homes of Americans of every stripe.

Portraits in oils of his subjects are accompanied by both audio and written pieces created in collaboration with dozens of writers, composers and radio producers.

During the exhibit, Klein will work with New Jersey Middle School students, hold demonstrations and offer weekly opportunities for members of the public to record their own oral histories.

"You're U.S. - At Home With America" opens to the public on Friday, September 5th from 6-8 p.m. and remains on view through October 25th.

Annual Juried Exhibition

The deadline for entries in the 2014 Juried Exhibition is this Friday, September 5th - just a few short days away. Three cash prizes will be awarded by juror Evonne Davis of Newark's Gallery Aferro, plus one artist will be selected by The Center's Exhibitions Committee for a solo exhibition in 2015 - an incredible opportunity.

Remember that there is special reduced pricing for The Center's members and art educators. And good luck!

Save The Date for "Off The Wall" 2014!

On Friday, October 24th The Center for Contemporary Art is going "Off The Wall" for a second time!

"Off The Wall" is a benefit art exhibit and silent auction of small works, and a wonderful party. It is also an affordable way to support The Center and start or add to an art collection.

Tickets start at $25 per person and are available for sale online!

Before fall really revs up and the calendar fills with activities, be sure block off some time for yourself by taking an art class or planning a gallery visit. And members, remember that you do not need to be enrolled in a class to work on your own projects during open studio hours!
