August is suddenly here and while our summer art camps and classes are still in full swing, we are looking ahead to fall. September brings the exciting "You're U.S." exhibit to Bedminster and in October the "Off the Wall" art auction returns for a second year. A new curriculum for young artists launches this fall, and a "membership enhancement team" will start working on expanding The Center's member benefits.

New for fall!
Art Classes & Workshops
Fall classes for children and adults begin in September. In addition to The Center's faculty that you know and love, we are welcoming several talented new teachers for both adult and children's classes.
Workshops will explore everything from pen and ink to bookbinding, zentangles to mural painting and more, and celebrated American Impressionist John Traynor will join us for a special four-day plein air workshop in October.
Fall classes for artists ages 6-12 have a new format. Students in eight-week mixed media overview classes will work in a variety of media, delve into art history and explore The Center's exhibits. Students enrolled in six-week in-depth classes will deepen skills in an individual medium. All classes will end with a mini exhibit of student work.
There are four more weeks of summer left, and some of The Center's most popular camps are yet to come! Not only are we one of very few places to offer programs during the last week of August, we also offer a week long art camp for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs!
Spots are still available in many of the following summer art camps:

Looking Ahead - You're U.S.
We are very excited about the "You're U.S." exhibit which premieres in Bedminster next month before traveling up and down the East Coast! This multi-media exhibition will present thirty "American Profiles" of subjects from across ten states, and is the first body of work created in an effort to collect profiles from all fifty states. Each American Profile consists of a portrait in oils accompanied by literary and audio biographies.
"You're U.S." opens to the public on Friday, September 5th from 6-8 p.m. and remains on view through October 25th.
Be sure to "like" The Center for Contemporary Art on facebook to receive regular updates about the exhibit and the events planned around it!
The deadline for entries in the 2014 Juried Exhibition is Friday, September 5th. Three cash prizes will be awarded by juror Evonne Davis of Newark's Gallery Aferro, plus one artist will be selected by The Center's Exhibitions Committee for a solo exhibition in 2015! Please note that there is special pricing for The Center's members and art educators.
Enjoy the rest of summer and please include The Center in your plans - sign up for a Saturday summer workshop, enroll a child or grandchild in a creative week of camp or stop by to see the Members' exhibit.
If not, think fall when there will be even more reasons and ways to get involved!
