The date is set for next year, and we hope you will join us for the 11th annual Cooking for a Cause event.

Mark your calendars for April 4, 2014.

Will Gilson of Puritan & Co. will serve as the Culinary Chair for Cooking for a Cause 2014, working with a fantastic lineup of your favorite local chefs and vendors. We will once again enjoy the fabulous space at the MIT Media Lab, and your enjoyment of the evening will directly support East End House!

CambridgeSide Galleria Makes Spare Change into Lasting Change

Do you have spare change jingling in your pockets? The CambridgeSide Galleria knows that you do. When you park in the Galleria's garage, you can leave that heavy change behind at containers stationed by each payment station.

These seemingly small acts of kindness add up to hundreds of dollars that go to East End House every month. The money from this Penny Campaign supports all the East End House programs you love, building up our community and helping children and youth reach their full potentials. Thank you CambridgeSide Galleria!

Biogen Idec Volunteers Make Their Mark

On Friday, September 20th, twenty volunteers from Biogen Idec volunteered their time to bring smiles to East End House children's faces as part of the biotechnology company's Care Deeply Volunteer Day. The volunteers shared their infectious love of STEM by taking Preschool students to the Museum of Science, where they explored a model space ship, learned about dinosaur bones, and watched a live animal show. After the museum visit and a delicious lunch in the park, the Preschool students took their naps while the volunteers rolled up their sleeves. The Biogen Idec group painted the East End House computer lab and gave two classrooms a deep clean, making the building sparkle for all the children who come here every day.

We're always looking for volunteers! If you're interested in lending a hand, contact Tim Severyn at timothy@eastendhouse.org or 617-876-4444.

Join Genzyme in Giving this Season

This week, Genzyme dropped off a truck full of festive pumpkins: round pumpkins, tall pumpkins, sugar pumpkins, albino pumpkins, giant jack-o-lantern pumpkins and tiny baby pumpkins. East End House's Child Care and School Age Programs will use the pumpkins for hands-on activities, and each child will be able to claim one to take home and paint, carve, or eat, all thanks to the generosity of our friends at Genzyme!

The coming of fall means it's time to start thinking about our Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway and our Holiday Toy Drive. Whether you'd like to collect food, volunteer, or donate, you will help local families. Last year we served more than 850 families for Thanksgiving and over 500 families for the Toy Drive. We want this year to be even better! To get involved, contact Tim Severyn at timothy@eastendhouse.org or 617-876-4444.
