Getting to Know (and Forgive) Our Unconscious Selves

by Paul Meier, MD

In Psalm 139:23-24, David prays for God to reveal to him his own innermost anxious thoughts (unconscious thoughts). David knew he would grow from these insights and live his life more maturely. People who grow up suffering from emotional, physical, sexual, and/or religious abuse tend to have significantly more depression, anxiety, and panic attacks, as well as low self-esteem. They often feel inferior and are afraid to be assertive or to speak up for themselves. But proper therapy will make them healthier than people who were never abused in the first place.

Run to God Like a Child

by Pastor Phil Dvorak

Jesus told the crowd around him, "I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven." Matthew 18:3

What could Jesus possibly mean by this?

I am a father of three with a fourth due any moment. Over the years, my wife and I have learned a few things about little children. First, little children have nothing of worldly value to offer you. They can't get a job, dress themselves, bathe themselves, feed themselves and, in fact, they are horrible decision makers. .
