A Room of One's Own
July 2014
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In 1929, Virginia Woolf wrote about having "A Room of One's Own" where she claimed that "A woman must have money and a room of her own..." This goes for men too and in Feng Shui we also talk about having a space of your own - especially when you live with other people. Of course, if you live alone the entire space is your own. Yet there is still a consciousness about setting aside a sacred space for daily rejuvenation and focus. Any space can be your sanctuary. It is important to establish your own area if you are living with other people, stressed out, over-scheduled or if you have lost your sense of self amid the chaos of others. A Room of One's Own will preserve your sanity and overall sense of self and well-being.
MOM BASE CAMP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mom Base Camp - kitchen

For those who have worked with me on their Feng Shui this term will be familiar. "Mom Base Camp" is usually located in the kitchen - which is the heart and soul of any home. Think of it like command central for all social engagements, activities, paying bills and basically everything that happens with your family. Mom Base Camp does not have to be a dull space without personality. It should reflect your personal style. I always like to suggest adding a small Buddha to remind you to stay calm, Ganesh to remove obstacles, crystals like Black Tourmaline to clear toxic energy, Carnelian to invigorate creativity and Rose Quartz to remind you to attract love on all levels. Add a bulletin board or chalk board for party invites and important phone numbers. It may be a slightly cluttered spot so keep the clutter active by constantly clearing and moving it around. Active clutter is creative clutter. Even though I live alone I still have my base camp desk with phone and rolodex (old-school) with plenty of pens and paper and messy drawer (you can have one messy drawer) along with lucky bamboo, Thai Buddha and my favorite crystals.

MAN CAVE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Man Cave - home office
The "Man Cave" is serious business because every man in a family needs a place to get away and refocus. A modern man has many options for their space - I have seen Meditation Man Caves, DJ booth garages, as well as home offices and basement game rooms. The one rule of each person's space is that they can do whatever they like with it. The spouse cannot dictate how they decorate or how they use the space. Of course, we want it to have good Feng Shui.
Sharing a space with your spouse or the kids is not what we have in mind. This is to be your own private sanctuary. It's kinda like having a clubhouse when you were small with a sign "no girls allowed." I also understand that not everyone has the luxury of a separate room - I have seen a closet be used as a chanting altar. You may have to use the Man Cave closets for storage or your spouse's extended wardrobe. Multi-tasking your Man Cave is not reccomended, but we do what we must. If there is only one home office space, you may have to invite your children to use the printer for their homework.  Make sure everyone in the house honors your oasis of calm amid the chaos. The one rule is that - each adult in the household should have a "Room of their Own."
BAZI CLIENT BONUS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the spirit of the "Year of the Wood Horse" I am continuing my study of Chinese Metaphysics with my teacher in Mumbai. This week we delved deeper into the meanings of a person's Jia Zi so I want to offer my BaZi clients (and there are over 100 of you out there) a bonus Jia Zi mini-tipEmail me your Jia Zi (the Day Master and Animal Sign it is sitting on in your Day Pillar) and I will  email you back a paragraph update on your Jia Zi. It will not be in context to your entire chart but will offer a splash of new insight into who you are and what's going on in your life.

Example: in the above natal BaZi chart look under where it says DAY and you see BING yang fire above ZI RAT yang water. I need to know: BING/ZI RAT. This bonus information expires Aug. 11th so if you are interested get your info over to me now.
