2013 Year of the Water Snake

February 4, 2013 launches the Chinese New Year and when we look at the year of the Water Snake through "Feng Shui and BaZi Astrology eyes" we look at it elementally and how these elements play off each other. The Gui/Si or Yin Water/Snake year will offer us a little slow-down time to refocus and redirect our energies as opposed to the fast-paced Dragon 2012. You want to tap into your intuition in 2013 to help you make important decisions. Be on guard that snake qualities include being cunning, secretive, and deceptive so you never want to take things at face value. Look deeper to discover the truth. The general 2013 theme is to stay on top of your finances and don't procrastinate. Plan ahead!

2013 Industry outlook:

  • Wood is the wealth element for 2013 so wood industries will excel. Education and knowledge-based work includes teaching, healthcare experts and those teaching about medicine. Businesses that rely on seasonal changes like fashion or design will benefit. Wood is also about items made of wood and includes landscaping, developers, designing, and inventing. To grow your business in 2013 you want to incorporate wood into your marketing by teaching something. Add educational tools to your business, whatever it is. Wood is about slow growth so don't expect things to change overnight.

  • Fire also prospers in 2013. If fire is in your chart or if fire is your wealth element business will come to you and you will have true success. Fire industries include things that are fast-spreading like mass media, IT, telecommunications, computers, television, and electronics.  Also, areas that help people like raising children, worship, religion, and the health industry. Businesses where you make other people look beautiful like cosmetics, beauty products, and hair salons will also do well. Restaurants and the entertainment business also fall under FIRE businesses.

  • Water is the third element that will prosper in 2013. Water industries include trading, retail, hospitality, travel and expanding to international markets. Work related to thinking and innovation, wisdom and intelligence are also water fields. Consumer goods, tourism, sales, and transportation are good businesses that will prosper in 2013.

  • The property market will still be weak, because EARTH businesses will not do well. If you have a lot of earth in your chart or earth is your wealth you will want to partner with others who are going to have a good year and that is how you will prosper. No one can do it alone, so you need to be smart about who you work with in 2013.

  • Metal is also an element that will not be strong in 2013 and those with Geng Metal in their charts need to look out for legal problems. Banking, insurance, and finance will suffer.

The key to success in 2013 is in knowing yourself inside and out and what elements are in your chart so you can control the game. Where is WOOD in your chart? Where are the important elements and how do you best access them to have a prosperous year? HAC
It's time once again for the fabulous
Charlie Awards, the featured event of the Hollywood Arts Council. As a Board of Trustee Member I would like to invite you to attend, join the HAC or contribute to the on-line auction.

The Hollywood Arts Council is presenting its 27th Annual "Charlie" Awards Luncheon Fundraiser in the Blossom Room of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Thursday, April 5, 2013.

This year's event celebrates 35 years of keeping the arts alive in Hollywood and, through the "Charlie" Awards, acknowledges significant contributions made to the culture and arts of Hollywood by businesses, individuals and organizations.

We would be honored if you would contribute to our on-line auction which will reach over 200,000 bidders.

The luncheon's proceeds benefit the programs of the Hollywood Arts Council and, in particular, Project S.O.A.R. (Students Overcoming All Risks), the Council's after school arts workshops that we present at eight Hollywood area elementary schools. We know these are unusual times, but we believe you recognize the value of providing free art programming to our underserved young people. Today's odds are that fifty percent of our youth will drop out before graduating from high school. The arts often provide the spark to keep a youngster on the path to graduation.
