Orientation Boat Cruise 2013
Hello again! This week, I will introduce the FIUTS Orientation Program for new international students. The FIUTS staff and student facilitators are busy preparing for your arrival and look forward to welcoming you soon!
FIUTS Orientation
FIUTS International Student Orientation is an important way to start off your UW experience. At Orientation you will learn about resources available to you as a UW student, discover Seattle, and befriend students from around the world through fun and memorable events!

Fall 2014 Orientation* takes place September 10-19th and includes ten days of information sessions, social programs, activities, resource
tours and more. When you first arrive on campus, visit the FIUTS Greeting Table (September 8-12th, 10am-1pm in the HUB) to pick up your new student arrival packet and submit immigration documents to ISS. You'll receive more details about Greeting Table next week!

*If you're a Freshman participating in Early Fall Start, be sure to attend EFS International Student Orientation on August 25th.
Opening Day
Opening Day on September 10th is the beginning of FIUTS Orientation and your official welcome to the University of Washington! You'll get a chance to meet other new students and hear from distinguished speakers from FIUTS, the University, and the Seattle community.

Opening Day will be held in Meany Hall. Please arrive between 1 and 2pm to participate in welcome activities. After the speaking program, meet other new Husky's and FIUTS Facilitators while exploring all the fun that can be had across the UW campus!

If your parents are coming with you, they are welcome to attend Opening Day. There will also be a special parent session beginning at 9:00am the same day in the HUB, Room 250.
Info Sessions & Insider Tours
After Opening Day, Orientation continues with ten days of Social Events and Information Sessions. Over 40 informational resource sessions are offered the week of September 15-19th. Info Sessions are a great time to ask questions and learn more about everything from our unique Pacific Northwest culture and the ins and outs of academic advising, to banking and fun things to do in and around Seattle. You will have an opportunity to tour our sports and health centers and meet UW students, staff, and community members.

OnInternational Fountain Monday September 15th, special sessions will be held for graduate, freshmen, and exchange students to cover information specific to your program. After Monday, you can choose to attend the sessions that are most interesting and relevant to you and on Friday morning, FIUTS Facilitators (current student leaders) will offer special "Insider Tours" to introduce you to their favorite local spots (to study, dine, shop, and more). You will receive the complete schedule of info sessions and tours when you arrive on campus and check-in at the Greeting Table.
You will receive details about Greeting Table and Orientation Events in the next two e-mails. In the meantime, you can check out the Orientation Schedule for more information. Please let us know if you have any questions, and don't forget to join our Facebook group, created just for you: FIUTS UW International Students.

We are getting so excited to meet all of you this fall!

Sincerely,
