Natick Racquet Club

A message from Laury Hammel,
Longfellow President                        Find us on Facebook

Dear Members,

Summer is here and it's wonderful to be able to exercise outside.  It's also nice to know that on really hot days or rainy days, Longfellow is available as a climate-controlled place where you can work out comfortably and safely every day of the week, no matter what the weather brings.

We hope you had a chance to drop by our traditional opening of summer - the Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 24th.  Once again it was great fun and a fantastic way to welcome the warm weather and enjoy the beautiful outdoor pool and play areas!  If you missed it this year, we hope you find a way to make the party next year.

We're thrilled to announce that the LongfellowClubs.com web site has been completely re-designed.  It's now easier than ever to find out about Longfellow and all the various programs we offer.  We want to give a shout-out to all of the members who were willing to share their stories on video giving us a permanent record of the joy and satisfaction that Longfellow brings our members.  Our new web site will feature one of these member videos on the home page. Check it out.

Our various youth camps are in full swing and we welcome you to find out about the various camps that Longfellow offers--tennis, adventure, arts, and golf camps. This has been our most popular summer for camp registrations ever, but we still have a few spots open this summer--the camps run through August 31. Check out our new web site or see the stories below for more information.

Yours in health,

Laury Hammel, President

Ice Cream Social

Water Balloon TossYesssss! Thanks to everyone (guests and volunteers alike) for making our Ice Cream Social
on Sunday, June 24th, such an awesome event! We had delicious ice cream with amazing toppings under gorgeous skies, and then on to the day's activities!

Faces were painted, we saw a great Magic Show, and made some waves with our Big Splash Contest.

Winding down the day were our Limbo Contest, our Basketball Free Throw contest,  and finally, our much-anticipated Water Balloon Toss event, a great way to cool down after an awesome afternoon under the sun! Thanks again, everyone, and we hope to see you all again next year! And of course have a smashing time this summer at the pool!

L @ L KPre-K @ Longfellow's educational philosophy is to provide a nurturing program which enables children to develop self-esteem, confidence and trust, while at the same time learning how important it is to enjoy staying healthy and active every day. We offer a variety of projects and activities that build established foundations for learning. We work independently with the children and in small groups, and our learning centers offer experiences necessary for exploration, to maintain the child's interests, and activities to encourage fine and gross motor skills as well as academic success.

Some of the activities we offer include:

  • Yoga
  • Dance
  • Soccer
  • Swimming (lessons provided at an additional cost)
  • Fitness

'Pre-K @ Longfellow' is designed to accept children ages 4 & 5 years old, the year before they enter Kindergarten.  For more information please contact Caroline Donahue at 508 653 4633 or email [email protected].

These small group classes run 30 minutes long, Monday through Thursday, and you can choose 10:30-11:00 am, or 11:00-11:30 am. The one-week classes are $60.00 per child, with additional siblings costing $55.00.

The Parent-Infant/Toddler classes run from June 30 to August 18. Parents swim with kids for these classes, and they held every Saturday morning at 9:30 am between the dates above, and the cost is $130 for the session.

FYI: We will close the pool for one half hour if thunder is heard (and for additional half hour for any additional thunders thereafter). If your child's swim lesson is cancelled as a result, we'll work with you to re-schedule for another day and/or time.
