CAASPP Testing Starts this Week

  • April 25-26 .... 8th Grade Language Arts
  • April 27-28 .... 7th Grade Language Arts
  • May    2-3  ....  6th Grade Math
  • May    4-5  ....  6th Grade Language Arts
It is essential that your child is not absent during their testing schedule.   We ask that parents do not schedule medical or dental appointments on the days of their student's testing

There is nothing parents need to do to prepare students for the tests other than ensure good nutrition and a good night's sleep. However, if parents would like to see examples of the assessments you can explore: http://sbac.portal.airast.org/ca/practice-test-ca/  This link will allow you to take the practice test just like your students will at school. Select the student interface at the bottom of the page and sign in as "GUEST".

Pursuant to California Education Code 60615, parents may annually submit to the school a written request to excuse their child from taking the CAASPP.  If you would like your child to be excused from taking the CAASPP this spring, please submit your request, in writing, to the site administrator. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the MCMS Office.

Yearbook Orders Received
Not sure if you purchased a yearbook this year? Check the attached list. The list of those who purchased a yearbook is also located on the wall adjacent to the library. Yearbooks were not sold at registration. They were only sold online until January 24.
There are still a few yearbooks left for sale, that will be sold, on a "first-come" basis. Yearbooks are $55.00 and cash only will be accepted. Students need to see Mrs. Mosley in C-4 to purchase a yearbook.

Beagle Freedom Project works to release dogs and other animals (cats, rabbits, and others) from laboratory situations and find forever homes for them.  Beagles are the breed of choice for laboratories because of the docile and friendly nature of the breed. Most of the animals used in labs are used for testing of cosmetics and personal care products and many feel that this is a cruel and unnecessary practice.  You can avoid purchasing such products by looking for the words NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS or the 'bunny' logo on products.

This event is sponsored by the Oak Park High School SPAE Club - Students Protecting Animals and the Environment.

For more information and to fill out the liability waiver form in advance you can visit http://www.oakparkusd.org/spae

UCLA Engineering School Event
UCLA invites you and your students to join us for an engineering school event on May 7th, 2016 (Saturday) celebrating Claude Shannon, who was one of the greatest American scientists of the 20th century. Shannon founded information theory and is perhaps equally well known for founding both digital computer and digital circuit design theory. Shannon also laid the foundations of cryptography and did basic work on codebreaking and secure telecommunications. Click here for the event flyer.
