6th and 7th Grade Elective Choice Forms are Due on March, 18
6th and 7th Grade Students
Elective Choice forms are due on Monday.  You should have gone on to Student Connect (Q) to enter EITHER 2 semester electives OR one year-long elective.  If you do not follow these instructions you run a high risk of the computer voiding out your selections.  You must also turn in the hard copy of your Elective Choice form to your Math teacher Monday, if you have not already done so.

7th Grade Students - Important Note
In Student Connect course requests has given ALL 7th graders , as a temporary placeholder, Algebra Introductions.  This will be changed in April to reflect the appropriate math class.

Should you have questions, please contact Amanda Bagheri, Assistant Principal

California Assessment of Student Performance & Progress(CAASPP)
Dear Parent or Guardian,

Your child, along with public school students throughout California will take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) shortly after we return from Spring Break. The testing will take place between April 18th and May 6th. These
assessments will cover English Language Arts and Math. For each subject area, students will take a computer adaptive test, participate in a classroom activity, and complete a performance task. In addition to the SBAC testing, the 8th grade will take the CST Science (STAR) test the week of April 18th.

The schedule will be as follows:
April 18th - 21st: 7th/8th Math and Science
                             (4/18 and 4/20 are A days, 4/19 and 4/21 are B days)
April 25th - 26th: 8th grade Language Arts
April 27th - 28th: 7th grade Language Arts
May 2nd - 3rd:     6th grade Math
May 4th and 5th: 6th grade Language Arts

It is essential that your child is not absent during their testing schedule.   We ask that parents do not schedule medical or dental appointments on the days of their student's testing. Please mark your calendars and plan ahead.
Students will be introduced to the tests and testing protocols before their testing day.

There is nothing parents need to do to prepare students for the tests other than ensure good nutrition and a good night's sleep. However, if parents would like to see examples of the assessments you can explore:
http://sbac.portal.airast.org/ca/practice-test-ca/   This link will allow you to take the practice test just like your students will at school. Select the student interface at the bottom of the page and sign in as "GUEST".

Pursuant to California Education Code 60615, parents may annually submit to the school a written request to excuse their child from taking the CAASPP.  If you would like your child to be excused from taking the CAASPP this spring, please submit your request, in writing, to the site administrator.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the MCMS Office.

Sincerely,

Brad Benioff
Principal
